Posted June 2, 201015 yr I was just wondering does anyone know what is the lowest selling number 1 album and single to date, i dont mean in a 7 day period i mean overall, im starting to believe Keane's recent night train album could possibly be in the running with the way it is falling.
June 3, 201015 yr I think the lowest selling #1 single is Busted's "Who's David" which I'm sure has sold less than 100K since its release. I think either that or some McFly single I can't recall the name of.

June 3, 201015 yr Yeah, surely Baby's Coming Back from May 2007 must be it...it sold no more than 60k in total I don't think, maybe less... the 1-20 drop was nothing short of hilarious
June 3, 201015 yr Elvis Presley's 'It's Now or Never' (39,000 copies) in 2005 but that was only a limited edition. Without the limited edition, the record goes to JaRule featuring R.Kelly and Ashanti with 'Wonderful'. It only sold 65,000 copies in total. This was when the music industry was in the $h!ts. :D http://www.everyhit.com/record4.html
June 3, 201015 yr Lowest selling no. 1 album could be In This Light and on This Evening. Only five weeks in Top 75.
June 3, 201015 yr Lowest-selling #1 album: Diana Vickers - 'Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree'? :kink:

Btw, it sold 51,000 Edited June 3, 201015 yr by Gagafan Gleek
June 3, 201015 yr Lowest selling no. 1 album could be In This Light and on This Evening. Only five weeks in Top 75. And IIRC it only sold about 30k at #1 anyway That may well be it :P
June 3, 201015 yr Lowest-selling #1 album: Diana Vickers - 'Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree'? :kink: Too early to say that
June 3, 201015 yr Lowest-selling #1 album: Diana Vickers - 'Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree'? :kink: It sold 8,000 more than the aforementioned Keane album in the first week, which is falling faster and probably won't be making a return to the chart, I'm sure Diana has a chance to bolster her sales.
June 3, 201015 yr It sold 8,000 more than the aforementioned Keane album in the first week, which is falling faster and probably won't be making a return to the chart, I'm sure Diana has a chance to bolster her sales. Night Train is actually falling slightly slower than Diana. 1-7-24 1-6-23 First is Diana, second is Keane Diana was #36 on 4th week, and Keane are currently #40 in the mids Unless you mean sales obviously in which case yeah, Keane probably are falling faster.
June 3, 201015 yr Some existing possible contenders for lowest selling no.1 album could be Wu Tang Clan Wu Tang forever from 1997, only sold 26,000 at no.1 spent 10 weeks on the chart and sold fewer than 90,000 as it was not in the top 125 artist albums of the year. Also Carter USM love album from 1992, only sold 90,000 Edited June 3, 201015 yr by fiesta
June 3, 201015 yr Lowest selling no. 1 album could be In This Light and on This Evening. Only five weeks in Top 75. :nocheer: Such an amazing album too!
June 4, 201015 yr #1 Single was Orson, wasn't it? Absolutely no way, the poster didn't mean in a week, but overall total sales.
June 4, 201015 yr How much has Ellie Goulding's Lights sold so far? She's in no danger of setting any low-sales records - already sold 141k. Yes, she fell from #1 to #16 on her 2nd week, but that 2nd week was a very high sales week, so the percentage sales drop wasn't as dramatic as the position drop suggests. Her sales fell 49%, but on average a #16 only sells 25% of what the #1 does - she might have been no lower than #5 or 6 in normal circumstances. Edited June 4, 201015 yr by vidcapper
