Guys, you want to know what's actually shocking this week? Alexandra Burke's "All Night Long" reaches #1 on the UK Radio Airplay chart despite never being playlisted on Radio 1.

Meaning we can finally put two things to rest:

01 - whining about why "All Night Long" was never playlisted on Radio 1.

02 - keep proclaiming that Radio 1 is the be-all, end-all way of obtaining a hit in the UK, clearly that is not the case.

I haven't heard either yet, but I suspect they'd sound exactly the same to me anyway. :P

You need your ears checking.

01 - when was the last time someone had moaned about it not being playlisted? A month ago?

02 - it's not but it is very effective for artists trying to establish themselves in the music industry. Luckily, Alex had a substantial fanbase, commercial radio, TV airplay and great promo on her side.

3... My belief that it was impossible to get to #1 without being playlisted on both R1 & R2.

SIX: Why are you criticising me? It gets mentioned here atleast twice a week and got mentioned here several times before that with the countless debates about it. Don't get smart with me. :manson:

If that makes me hear *those* more clearly, then I'd prefer them remain stuffed with wax... :P

I'm barely criticising you. I'm just disagreeing.

And I wasn't getting smart with you but if you think I was then I'll take it as a compliment. :D

Ke$ha has done quite well with no promo at all for YLIMD. Just hope it get's top 10!

Why would they sound the same to you? Because they both involve rap parts? They sound nothing alike at all. One is a carbon copy of 'Pass Out' and the other is a typical Football "Anthem".

All I would say is that Alexandra's case is a very very very rare exception and she was lucky enough to have this being played everywhere else bar Radio 1, hardly anyone does. It's also falling down the chart at rocket speed but that's beside the point.

A nearly on-topic question :

Being an iPod novice, is there any way to delete songs from it *without* connecting to my PC & running iTunes?

I could do so with my MP3 player, but see nothing like that option for the iPod?

Looks like Frisky for #1 on Tues/Wed, and could change Thurs with the Dizzee and James Cordon collaboration, just have to wait and see if the $h!t hits the fan on Thurs.

Usher going back up? :(

I quite like 'Frisky'. It's not amazing but it's better than 'Pass Out' which is weird considering as I had trouble distinguishing them from each other for a while.

And the chart is going to get even worse because of the stupid World Cup which we will lose anyway.

Plastic Bertrand? WTF? Is it on an ad?

Anyway Yolanda Be Cool is out :o *downloads*

Plastic Bertrand? WTF? Is it on an ad?

Yup, I can't remember what it's called. Ask Brett-Butler. :P
