Meh not a fan of any of the new additions tbh. :( Interesting to see that they're still supporting Basshunter though.
Liking the additions from Basshunter and in particular I Blame Coco and Mark Ronson  Kylie up to the a-list :cheer:
I'm surpirsed to see Darwin Deez added to the C-List. I thought he'd be a one-playlist wonder with 'Radar Detector.' Otherwise, bar I Blame Coco (which I haven't heard, but I expect to be a grower) not too thrilled with the additions, with Scouting For Girls following up their only listenable song with their most unlistenable song (even more so than 'James Bond'),
This playlist is just getting worse why waste time playlisting songs that the 16-25 age group do not listen to and will not buy-Darwin Deez, I Blame Coco, Paramore,BBC, Mumford and Sons are going nowhere fast.

It's in their remit - they have to playlist music from a wide array on genres. Also, just because people don't buy them, it doesn't mean they're not popular (have you heard of illegal downloading? I hear it's rather popular with the kids these days).

Although I do criticize the playlist regularly, they do a good job of promoting a wide range of music. If it was wall to wall pop every week, then I might have a problem.

No Diana Vickers? :o

TBWML is released in less than a month. :o

I think she will do a Cascada and have the follow-up to her #1 single peak out of the top 40. :(

actually, it's released in 1 month and a couple of days. :P I'd give it another week before throwing the cards on the table.

I Blame Coco hasn't exactly released anything with much support yet... and Paramore / Mumford & Sons are both incredibly successful. Ignorance was huge for a #14, Mumford & Sons have brought folk music to the top 40 twice (one of them for 6 weeks) and both of their most recent albums have been absolutely massive. BBC and Darwin Deez are the only acts their that can be crossed off as flops.

And Radio 1 can playlist whatever the hell they want - if they want to support indie music more then they will. What do you suggest to replace them? :P

That is odd about Diana, I think Once was playlisted 7 weeks before release.TBWML will need to be playlisted by them to go Top 40.

Bray-I know I will be proved right and all those groups I mentioned apart from Mumford and Sons possibly will totally miss the Top 50. (who knew you were such a big fan of folk music) .

I didn't know you meant the individual songs - your post implied you meant acts like Paramore and Mumford & Sons wouldn't stick around for long (which Paramnore already have by the way)

I'm surprised they haven't added her new song yet too. Perhaps they got so many negative texts and emails about Once and they didn't want to annoy their listeners with her voice any further :heehee:

Are you having a laugh? What you're basically saying is that Radio 1 should only play the most commercial songs and anything that's unlikely to make an impact on the charts is not worth playlisting. Do you think popularity is defined purely by record sales? So it doesn't matter that many artists get huge audiences on tour - but only how many singles they sell? No wonder so many new genuinely talented artists struggle to break through when people have such narrow-minded attitudes.

^Exactly. The top 20 is played by commercial radio, why would Radio 1 want their playlist to look the same? Criticise them if you want, but at least their playlist is unique, and they give acts a chance.
