I wish she'd have put some eyebrows on for the bit at the end when she takes her glasses off. She looks hideous.

Not what I was expecting...

It would have made more sense if the first part of the song was her walking/playing piano in the cornfield with Jo and then him Frankensteining her instead of the random guy. BUT IT WAS ALRIGHT. Shit song still.

I've seen it now. To me the video doesn't seem to fit the song at all. The song is nowhere near as 'epic' as her others and doesn't SUIT a video like this, plus the totally random events, suspect plotline and choreography all seem much better suited to something a bit more upbeat. It's not bad but I do think she's got to the stage now where she's scared of making a simple but effective video with a solid story and a bit of emotion because she's got to keep bettering herself.
Just a thought, but does anyone else think that Gaga left a clue at the end of the video, where she gets married. 'Marry The Night' the next single?
I found and managed to watch it (don't ask me for the link though, that one's down too now) and I agree with what's been said - it is a brilliant video but it really doesn't fit the song or it's message. It feels to me like she made the video and just randomly flung the song on top or something (which of course we know isn't the case but it kind of seems like it) :( I kind of wish she'd stop making such a big cinematic thing of all her videos now, Pokerface, Judas, Just Dance, even The Edge Of Glory were all good videos. As were Telephone, Born This Way and Bad Romance, but the whole big deal cinematic thing isn't really needed for every video. I know Edge and (to an extent Judas) were simple so maybe we were due a big Gaga video again, but this song really doesn't call for it, I'd rather this video was for Marry The Night or something.
Looks a bit like it's going to be a bit overboard for what the song is about.

It doesn't really fit the song at all? Just seems completely random. It's like she's trying to create a masterpiece but it just doesn't fit...
My exact feelings. I think this is the video that should have been for TEoG. It'd suit that song so much better I think. It's a good video for what it is, but it honestly doesn't go with the song and it is actually a little off putting to me.

Also at the comments about the music channels "butchering the video" or whatever. They can only work with what they're given

The video is now up on Gaga's YouTube:

I actually like it

It makes absaloutley no sense and has no real concept, but a lot of music videos out there don't have a concept!

The video is great, but makes no sense. Shame. I can't help but feel, if you are going to release such a personal song, you need to have a music video with a plotline and I just have no clue what it is even about. It is cinematicly rather beautiful, but it just doesn't fit the song at all.

The official version of the video is soon to be added to ladygagavevo.

I haven't particularly enjoyed a GaGa video since Bad Romance to be honest, mainly due to their being dramatic, strange, and complete messes. This video, however, is my favorite since Bad Romance, because it has SOME kind of storyline that makes a bit of sense. Somebody above said that it would've made more sense if Jo was doing the frankenstein job, and I agree wholeheartedly. If she spent a bit more time with the piano in the cornfield, I would've really enjoyed it. I do love the song, so frankly I'm a bit annoyed by the overdramatizing of an obviously downtempo number that was begging for a simple video. However, compared to the other videos she's made as of late, it's a step in the right direction.

I don't have a clue what the fuck is going on but I like it. For me:

Born This Way = good song slightly spoilt by an overly strange video

Judas = weak song with well-made but predictable video

The Edge of Glory = good song let down by disinteresting video

You and I = good song with a wacky but more interesting video

I hadn't heard this song before for whatever reason, and I cannot get over how bad it is! It sounds like something TAYLOR SWIFT would release! What on earth was she thinking?! The video's nice enough but has no real direction.
I am really loving the song now, but it does sound like something Shania Twain would release in 1996. Still love it though, and it's a nice change for her to finally have a ballad single!
LOVE the song, rather like the video, although I would have preferred more of Gaga and Jo at the piano, I loved that.

Agreed on the latter. She completely misjudged this and The Edge of Glory. The video would have been much better had it just focused on Gaga/Jo on the piano, simple and effective. The Edge of Glory was screaming for something over the top, life and death, mermaid on a cliff etc.

So it looks like she got The Edge Of Glory's video and You and I's video mixed up.

I still love the video though, however is the one posted at her official youtube account not the official one?

This, but who knows. It's GaGa after all, that may have been her plan all along.

Maybe she felt Edge of Glory didn't need an over the top video as the song was selling itself on its own, where as You and I may need a more over the top video as its not as commercial of a song and needs the added hype to help propel it up the charts...just a thought, that being said i do sort of wish it was the other way around, i was expecting the video to just be her and Jo and different scenes with the two of them.
