Other songs starts in a green color, but ends up in a red one! :(

Surely a RedOne is even better :kink:

Sorry, the GaGa-loon inside me couldn't resist trying to make that terrible joke :P

OT slightly.

But this month, are we going to do another "era ban"? And will Katy's be carried over for another month, like they are being carried over in the songs banlist? :) I have an idea for my era ban :P

One Big Final & Current Voting System.

I wasn't part of BJSC when the Semi's were present but the current system gives everyone a chance.

Plus you could be ruling out good songs from a strong semi group over poor-er successful songs in a weak semi group - if a grouped semi format is used that is. :P

Era bans will continue and be carried over, yuss ^_^

I do try and listen to the whole of the song even if it pains me. I was actually quite impressed with myself, forcing myself to listen to the whole of Variation Of Birds.

if i can remember, i somehow made it through all of that sheelah song. not sure how.

Something weird there is. The total is 37 votes yet 18+20 votes have been casted. I SENSE SOME CHEATING.

p.s. I hardly think the one-big final can be blamed for a decrease in activity. People are citing the low post count from the last final as a result of the one big final thing. The final thread, one big final or not, will get equal amounts of activity no matter what the rule is. You just get an illusion that the one big final is to blame when all semi finals will do will add another thread for people to talk in, but adding a semi final will add no more activity to the final thread. I'm having trouble explaining this, but it's like, even if there was a semi final in the last contest, the final thread, logically, would have got the same amount of replies because there would have been nothing extra to talk about in it even with semis, because they're over and there's no speculation about it left to do.

So yes, a semi final will create a few extra threads / more predictions. But do people think it's really going to help activity? It'll be the exact same people talking. BJSC has had an incredibly fall in activity since we hit the 20s and that has nothing to do with having a big final.

I think the big issue is that people really just don't care anymore. I used to be an advocate for having it once a month but it's way too much. Everything's too complicated, it's lost its fun, and I only stay at this point because I feel obliged. I don't want to predict things. I don't want pointless semis. I don't want countries. I just want to enter songs and vote on them and make new discovers. BJSCs just a really sort of sad affair currently. The stats haven't been updated in ages and no one even really cares.

And this is way longer than I intended it to be. I know BJSC isn't going to get simpler. Go back to semis, whatever, but if it is I just don't care enough about this contest to deal with it anymore. Even with one big final I'll probably end up leaving soon. It's not even really about the effort but it's just...sad. I dunno. Best way to explain it. But wait and see, the next contest, semis or not, will have less activity than this one. And the next one after that. And I don't even really think there's a solution at this point.

Quite. I shall ask the others...

tbh I think it's all this indecisiveness for a format that's killing BJSC....also I think looking past that there's this annoying constant need for reinvention that makes me a bit uncomfortable with Bjsc these days :(

There hasn't been indecisiveness for a format since XX, which is when the contest started noticeably taking a turn for the worse in popularity...

'Annoying constant need for reinvention'? What, you mean getting rid of the MF rule and putting in a banlist to stop the results being ridiculously predictable and pointless every month?

Some people could've null voted...

No. A person null voted would've meant 40 votes total and 18+21 votes in each choice. And there's 38 votes total.

No I don't mind that, but it feels like there's people who want to keep changing things......I wonder if it would ever stop/settle down into something concrete. :(

Everything changes, it's impossible to stay the same forever.

But it's a good thing to change something once in a while to freshen things up.

IMO at least.

YOU MUST STATE YOUR VOTES IN THE THREAD OR THEY MAY BE VOIDED

Can I just re-emphasise this? We're having enough trouble trying to figure out where the extra vote went, and so many have disobeyed this that, if we don't get a resolution, we may have to redo the poll - obviously an unappealing prospect.

So, if you HAVEN'T yet announced your vote, do so now.
