thats a bit of a generalisation. A huge core audience of her fans is actually str8 women but I know a lot of 18-23 people who love her

Well I'm a 44yo male Kylie fan, but definitely *not* gay...

It's Kylie and the curse of the UK #2 hits, which hasn't reared its ugly head since December 2004! If "All The Lovers" ends up peaking at #2, here are the other 11 songs it will join in the "Kylie UK #2 Club":

1988 - Got To Be Certain

1988 - The Loco-Motion

1988 - Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi

1989 - Wouldn't Change A Thing

1990 - Better The Devil You Know

1992 - Give Me Just A Little More Time

1994 - Confide In Me

2000 - On A Night Like This

2000 - Kids (Duet with Robbie Williams)

2002 - Love At First Sight

2004 - I Believe In You

Should EMI/Parlophone have waited and had the download-only release coincide with the physical release, as originally planned? Would the combination of downloads and physicals available for the first time on the same week have been enough to give Kylie another #1?

Kylie may hold at no2 by sunday. Yes, she is usually supported well by fans buying the physical release but the download bundles are also out this week and she is doing a lot of promotion for the single.

Her number 2s are better than her number 1s in my opinion

Evidently, Kylie's best songs go to #2. ^_^

Very glad that Kylie is #2, hopefully she can hold up for the rest of the week! And hopefully Kelly will move into the Top 10, it's #9 on iTunes, atm, and it's rising! ^_^

They are. Love At First Sight, On A Night Like This, Better The Devil You Know. I also find just about every time that Kylie releases better singles after the lead single and this era is no exception.

It's not a weird stategy releasing the superior single after the lead. It's to keep the album selling. The Saturdays seem to do that too with 'Up' and 'Ego'. GCC also did it with 'Echo'.

I also think, sometimes, it's not intentional to release the superior single as the 2nd one.

When only a few dozen people have heard the tracks, it's hard to judge which single will do best with the general public. Usually, after the album has been released, the artist knows what will be best received after the 2nd single, but it can be difficult to know what the first single should be, when nobody has heard any of the songs.

The album leaking can be good in situations like this though, as you can just do a google search, and find out which tracks seem to be the most well received.

All the best Kylie songs go to #2 but they almost all deserve to be top, Confide in Me being the main one.

Yeah, I often say that but sometimes it does backfire. The Saturdays - Up was effectively a lead single as the album was released off the back of it and Girls Can't Catch will never get an album.

I'm a 23 year old straight male and a HUGE Kylie fan  one of my top 3 solo artists of all time, although only my 2nd favourite to have started off in Neighbours :kink:

Ah yes, it's a shame about what happened to Stephanie McIntosh. :(

What's this? Kylie Rehab?

"I'm 21 and a straight male and I'm not fussed about Kylie. Only 'All The Lovers'."

Same. :teresa:

While we're at it, I'm a 23 year old non-straight male but I've been a big Kylie fan since before I properly knew and before I even acknowledged her as a gay icon, which greatly annoys me when people try and label me stereotypical for being a Kylie fan when I'm not at all. -_-
