Well...Can someone explain me the point of the playlist in the first place. Is it a 'let's try this and this' platform and if it doesn't go Top 20 then quit spinning the song even if it's good?

I understand the playlist if it should represent the radio but dropping songs off just because they didn't go Top 30 is ridiculous.

It's how it works for most acts unless they're huge album sellers, or popular live acts etc or hugely critically acclaimed. Unfortunate but true.

(I had to say that without using the typical "they have indie bias" thing).

But is it really that important..You can't get a hit without Radio 1? That sounds scary to me

The only ones that can be proper hits are the ones that have heavy support from everywhere else (i.e. 'All Night Long', the new Enrique single) or if they're lucky scrape the top 10 at best and then drop like a rock (Gabriella, Lemar, Esmee). It is pretty vital.

been said a million times already but new york re-release over stone cold sober? really?

woo at diana, mia and marina though :D

B-List

Kelly Rowland featuring David Guetta - Commander

Get up to the A-list, now! :angry:

C-List

* B.O.B featuring Hayley Williams - Airplanes

Good to see it added so soon! ^_^

* Eminem featuring Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie

I've actually fallen in love with this the past few days. :wub: Great to see it added so soon, like B.o.B ^_^

* Paloma Faith - New York

Why the f*** are they re-releasing this? :mellow: It was a medium hit the first time around. :wacko:

* Flo-Rida featuring David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me

Luff this right now.

* Marina & The Diamonds - Oh No!

Ooh, this is quite an early add (I think), which is good. :D

* Ne-Yo - Beautiful Monster

I'm a bit bored of this now, but it's still good. :)

'New York' is just baffling. They didn't even playlist 'Upside Down' did they?! Odd :s

Yay for Marina, Ne-Yo, B.o.B. and Eminem :D

No "yay" for Flo? I knew it should have been my entry :kink:

Oh yeah, that too obviously. :P

New York? At least Do You Want The Truth... or Stone Cold Sober. Or just not playlist any and move onto a new album. Her album has done alright, and she was hardly ever going to be a big seller.

Still, pointless 5th single re-releases are more interesting than boring album re-releases.

Are Paolo Nutini and Paloma Faith on the same record label?

I don't understand why they snubbed so many great singles but everytime when somebody rereleases an old song they always playlist it :wacko:

Radio 1 these days remind of communism !!?? - dictating what should be played.

Have looked through the Finnish post at the top, it seems much more varied.

Looks like the UK turns into black & RnB society... Where is pure poppppppp??????

Good additions this week, I'm even curious to hear the new "New-York" version, although I agree it's totally weird to re-release it, especially since I thought this era was over by now.

Especially happy for M.I.A and the excellent Mark Ronson track getting A-listed. Hopefully Mark gets a smash hit with that.

the rerelease of 'new york' isn't totally surprising, the album has been hanging round the bottom end of the top 75 for a few weeks so the record company obviously can see theres still some intrest in it.

rereleasing new york is not to get a hit but to keep the album trickle selling over the next couple of months to push it over 300k at least.
