Elvis Presley has exactly 100 according to Wikipedia, but this probably includes all the re-releases from 2005, which puts him down to 84 (83? I seem to remember there being 17 and one was excluded for some reason) and means it's none other than Cliff Richard in 1st on 95 top 20s if you exclude re-releases.

Madonna has 65 if I have done my math right so would be in the top 5 maybe even #3.

I wonder how future lists will deal with all the 'featured artist' credits nowadays?

It seems a little unfair that artists whose work has been almost entirely solo, could be overtaken on such lists by someone who's racked up many 2nd/3rd or even 4th credits on singles they've actually made mininal contribution to.

I can't quite see anyone ever beating Cliff's 95 (or Elvis' 100 if you count re-releases) top 20 hits, solo or featured...

It's rather odd how some singles are credited. For example in record books I don't think Sophie Ellis-Bextor is listed on Groovejet despite it being her vocals and merely Spiller providing the music.

On the otherhand, David Guetta gets credited on Commander for what I can see is a minimal and worthless contribution :/

He produced the whole song, not a worthless contribution really? Why he gets credited though, and most other producers don't ... I have no idea.

That's true. If they count featured singles, by 2020, Nicki Minaj will probably have like 200 top 20 hits.

Nicki Minaj doesn't even have 1 top 100 hit in the UK yet (unless you count BedRock where she isn't individually credited). Usher's Lil Freak will be her first. Plus I doubt Nicki Minaj will still be around next year, let alone 2020...

plus the world won't exist past Dec 21, 2012 anyway

I know he produced the song but like you said - nobody else gets credited for producing a track. Just confusing that he does.

There have been producers with definitive sounds (e.g. Phil Spector, Giorgio Moroder) who would probably be credited if they were releasing music today. Yes I know one of them would find it rather difficult at the moment :P However, they will effectively miss out compared with some of today's producers etc.

With it now being more commonplace for producers to obtain a credit on singles, I wonder exactly how many top 20 singles from the 1980s, and early 1990s could have been attributed to 'Stock Aitken Waterman.'

I think they might even give Cliff Richard a run for his money, or would certainly be in the top three, behind Cliff/Elvis?

It's only David Guetta that does this.

(as far as I'm aware)
