4 WINS. 12 Top 5's. Tons of great discoveries (Leddra Chapman - Story/Jody - Wind It/Jamali - Secrets being my favourite ever three ) Loads of fun. More Swedes than we can remember. Yet one thing was missing. A foreign language entry - Rontvia finishes with one of these, and of course a slice of fine Scandipop. Yes it's essentially a visual parody, but underneath is one of my favourite Scandi pop songs of recent years melodically, and a chorus that screams Numayania Rontvia. Most importantly, it's fun. GO BENGTZING

Country: FSR Rontvia

Artist: Markoolio & Linda Bengtzing

Song: Värsta Schlagern

Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHT5UyDhgQM

OMFG why did I not think of that? :drama: You have booked my 18 right there. I guess I'm just feeling more French than Scandi at the moment...

I am also against all the joke entries. It's gonna ruin the last edition. And will the people sending the joke entries all vote for each other, and make it so the more sensible songs end near the bottom? Just stupid - I don't even like these joke songs.

And I'm someone who doesn't want BJSC to end, especially since this is only my third edition.

There are THREE 'joke' entries. Last time I checked, 54 points didn't win a contest, even if they did all swap 18s.

What happened to Numayania's confirmed Christophe/Kylie entry by the way

Ugh, there is not a single parody entry! Pardon Me and Shoes are original songs, the latter actually being pretty catchy  And YOU BITCH YOU COW is obviously a remix made as a tribute to somebody's favourite soap opera which turned out to be like the funniest video ever :kink:

I don't see what is so wrong in having 3 such songs out of 40?! I can leave again if you want. The solution is AMAZINGLY simple - just don't f***ing vote for them!

Some wires got crossed, I've edited your post so it's fully up to date now...

Me too. BJSC is where I discover the best songs out there, and it would be a shame if it closed down just because 10 people or so want it to end :(

A song contest in this forum WILL continue, so there's no need to worry.

But that's what everyone says about the "cheap" entries too ;)

The difference is, I don't think these are entered with the intention of being easy victories we've all heard before/would hear anyway without the contest.

Except they are hardly going to actually win. Nor they are 'cheap' in ANY way.

Thank god. I don't want anyone changing to something from Aphrodite, we've got enough Aphrodites here as it is [/songwriter] Srsly, thanks

 I'm always feeling Scandi!

The video's a 'parody/tribute' (so what though? loads of serious songs have parody videos - Will Young's Blue Peter inspired video for example - it's just a coincidence that my chosen song has a video like this) but the song itself is musically fantastic imo and one of my favourite Scandi-pop songs/duets of the last few years. I've been wanting to send it for aaaaages and discussed it with Herzebania when they were still in the contest. I just never had the guts to veer away from always trying to get that top 10 result in the final. But seeing everyone else throwing caution to the wind sort of has an inspirational effect.

The difference is, I don't think these are entered with the intention of being easy victories we've all heard before/would hear anyway without the contest.

merci, I only copied your post from above but only later realised that you'd suddenly re-acquired Kylie after Tom had confirmed her

Understood ^_^

As far as I can tell, using an Unknown Pleasures system in here, will literally be exactly the same concept as BJSC except we don't have countries/know who is sending what.

So the genres and variety of songs being entered shouldn't change at all. The current BuzzJack UP that has just finished only had a massive 'indie' weighting because it was based in the indie forum. I doubt it would have been the same situation in the pop forum or the lounge. A lot of posters that don't care much for indie don't really visit that forum, hence either didn't know about it or were reluctant to take part. So the one in BJSC, should that happen, won't be completely pop dominated, it will have the exact same genre split that we have now as more or less all the same people will be taking part, which was not the case with the indie forum UP where there were about 15 people taking part that don't/never have participated in BJSC.

Countries could continue, just without the prior involvement of 'omg we might send this etc.'. And Unknown Pleasures would presumably lead to more of a 'send what it says on the tin' approach.

if you went with the rule unknown pleasures has aswell that restricts entries, i.e no uk top 40 hit/artist not entering the uk top 75, it will stop any "cheap" entries, and make bjsc what it's supposed to be, discovering music.

Indeed!

I don't think many realise that there is such rule though :kink:

That would be great, although wouldn't restrict all of them I guess, Eva Simons - Silly Boy wouldn't have fallen under this for example, nor any of the hyped Sound of 20XX artists yet to make an official chart impact. It would certainly reduce the number of them though.

So the countries that sent each entry would only be revealed after the contest? That would be cool, although it'd be strange to have no national threads, signature banners etc...
