The best Blue related single was 'No Worries' by Simon Webbe - and that was because of the female vocalist in the chorus who owned that song. :D

Blue's best single as a group, imo, was 'All Rise' and everything after that was wannabe sub-American pop fodder. You know you're in trouble when a British boyband is releasing tracks like 'Bubblin' and 'U Make Me Wanna'. They tried so hard to be American it was embarrassing. I echo what Ghosty posted. :( Then again, iirc Blue were massive in Italy - bigger there than in the UK, so Blue might just get 12 points from Italy by default.

MrDuncanJames Duncan James

Yes the rumour r true!! We r representing the uk in this yrs EUROVISION! We r really excited and cant wait till u hear the song!! ITS BIG!!!

Not even a show to select the song? Hope we get the song as soon as possible then, if he claims that it's BIG (and before YCNY last year, Josh claimed that the song Pete had written was great :drama:)

Duncan James REALLY has problems with grammar.

Anywhoo, I'm REASONABLY happy with Blue. At least they have a lot of performance experience, look good and have had a few decent songs. The song is meant to be "anthemic" so I'm hoping for something Breathe-Easy-meets-Take-That's-The-Flood. If we're going to have a Blue rate then...

09 All Rise

06 Too Close

08 If You Come Back

05 Fly By II

06 One Love

08 Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

07 U Make Me Wanna

?? Guilty (means NOTHING to me)

07 Signed, Sealed, Delivered

10 Breathe Easy (for the Italian version :kink:)

07 Bubblin'

08 Curtain Falls

06 Get Down On It

OMG NOO!!!!!! I hate Blue :( The only songs that have anything to do with Blue are Breathe Easy and Lee Ryan's I Am Who I Am and Secret Love :( Awful choice, although we might finish a bit higher as they might get a bit of support from their European fanbase (that's the upside to having a crap dated boyband represent us )

glad that Blue are re-unting for ESC :D

I used to like some of their songs :P

I read that their song is titled "I Can".

hopefully the UK can reach the top 5 this year :) good luck to them!

Apparently the song is called I Can, and there's going to be a documentary in April about their build-up to the contest. I really hope we get to hear it before then though. Anyway as a reminder here's the best thing Blue ever did...

I'm not too disappointed by this at all! Think we might actually be onto a successful(ish) finish here you know! For some reason I have high hopes for the song, and can definitely see the whole of the UK getting behind them in Germany.

OMG BLUE HAVE REUNITED? Epic. I kinda am a little just like a little in love with Duncan James.

I can't wait to hear the song.. I have quite a good feeling about this to be honest.

Blue could do ok for the UK although i cant see them winning, in a way im surprised Blue are going for eurovision but on the other hand im not as they have various links to eurovision in the past. I was neveer a huge fan of their material in the past although i did like their version of sorry seems to be the hardest word and if you come back. Looks like familar names are going for eurovision this year, blue, possibly jedward for ireland, who;s next, scooter for germany!!!

Tbh whoever the BBC selected people would never happy :drama: I think we should be pleased that Blue actually even want to take part entering the contest as they will be well aware that ESC does guarantee any sort of success regardless of the outcome, For a band like Blue to agree to appear following in the footsteps of Josh and the other unknowns from recent years is a risk.

If you like them or not they are probably the best we could hope for and they will find it easy to get access to bigger shows across Europe to promote themselves due to past success and will be keen to do so. People have underestimated how huge they were just a few years ago. I loved and 'followed' Blue back in the day and saw them perform live many times and can say that they are very good and confident live singers.

Also is it such a bad thing we are sending a boyband? There seems to be a renewed interest in boybands across Europe - Take That/The Wanted/JLS [uK], Jedward [ireland], A1 [Norway/Scandinavia], Worlds Apart [France] etc,

How many times in recent years can we say we are sending an artist to ESC with the following credentials:

11 Top 10 UK singles [Out of 12 releases]

3 UK #1 albums

All Rise [uK Certified 4xPlatinum]

One Love [uK Certified 4xPlatinum]

Guilty [uK Certified 2xPlatinum]

Best Of Blue [uK Certified Platinum]

6 Top 20 singles/3 Top 20 albums in Austria

5 Top 20 singles/1 Top 40 album in France

6 Top 20 singles/3 Top 20 albums in Germany

11 Top 20 singles/3 Top 10 albums in Ireland

7 Top 10 singles/4 Top 10 albums in Italy

5 Top 20 singles/1 Top 10 album in Netherlands

5 Top 20 singles/2 Top 20 albums in Switzerland

They also had varying levels of success as solo artists too:

Simon Webbe:

4 top 20 singles/2 Top 20 albums in the UK

Sanctuary [uK certified 2xPlatinum]

Grace [uK certified Gold]

Top 10 hits in Italy & The Netherlands, Top 40 hits in Poland, Ireland & Germany.

Lee Ryan:

3 Top 15 singles/1 Top 10 album in the UK

Lee Ryan [uK certified Gold]

Top 10 hits in Italy, Top 40 hits in Germany & Belgium

Duncan James:

2 Top 40 singles in the UK

3 Top 20 singles/1 Top 10 album in Italy

And finally Antony Costa went Top 20 with his only solo single in the UK :kink:

Pretty impressive base to be launching their ESC campaign from IMO!

Just to add looking at the above we could pull in some decent points from Ireland, Italy, Austria, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland & Belgium - Also Antony Costa is from Cypriot descent so could help with the Greek/Turkish/Cypriot votes :kink:

Thank god that Italy decided to return to ESC this year too!

This isn't actually that bad to be honest - I mean, obviously we'll need to hear the song, but it doesn't look all THAT desperate (it's not as if Blue have already tried and failed to make a comeback, so it's not like All Saints or someone are going for us) and Blue were capable of putting out a great song when they tried back in the day. Something along the lines of Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word please.
I'm actually quite excited about the build up to ESC now from a UK perspective - Blue will be returning to their previous record company EMI/Innocent so they will have major label backing also our entry has been announced early enough to allow Blue enough time to promote their entry and start to re-establish themselves in key markets where they had success previously. Obviously we have not heard the song yet but the signs are good for us to walk away with a very decent score/placing.
(and before YCNY last year, Josh claimed that the song Pete had written was great :drama:)

In fairness Josh probably thought it was great and a decent kick start to his career - How wrong he was :kink:
