La Roux announce new single, video news

La Roux have announced details of their new single, called 'Tigerlily'.

 

The track is the fifth song to be taken from their self-titled debut, which has sold over 350,000 copies since its release last June.

 

Discussing the song's promo in a behind-the-scenes preview on Youtube, singer Elly Jackson said: "The track is about stalking in a love sort of way. I've never actually stalked anyone [but]I've always seen this track as a very... dark thing, a very film noir, creepy, stalky alleyway thing.

 

"I play the predator and [actress] Natasha plays the prey. It was really important for me to have someone that is as androgynous as I am. Obviously people are going to go, 'Oh my god is there a girl in her video because she likes girls?'

 

"It was just really a statement about androgyny. If I'm honest I would rather have someone who wasn't boy or girl, I would pick someone who strangely had both!"

 

La Roux recently scored a top ten hit in the States with her UK number one 'Bulletproof'.

Really surprised at this. I thought they'd have moved on from this era now, especially after the Quicksand re-release did nothing to set the charts alight... I do love the song myself though, and think this should've been released ahead of I'm Not Your Toy last year...

It's been more than 6 months with no single. I'm shocked they are releasing this. Not being it's not good it's my fave on the album. But there's a lack of interest in La Roux now. They need start work on their second album.

 

I think it will be a flop unfortunately :( hopefully I'm wrong.

How bizarre. I love it, but it's very obviously going to flop.

Frankly that's just weird. If anything, they should promo or release the song from the various artists comp, Under My Thumb I think it was?

One of my favourite songs on her album! It should have been one of the very first singles to have been released! I'm surprised they are still releasing songs off this album now. Shouldn't they be concentrating on a brand new album?

Random/pointless release - She needs to come out with some new material soon before she becomes the new Kate Nash! Can see this storming into the charts at #87.

Great song but it wont do well, they have left it too long, the album has done well so i cant see this been a success.

Maybe they want this as the 2nd US single and decided to release it in the UK too.

Guess this means no new album till the spring. But are they planning a 2nd album at all? Will it be more 80s nostalgia? It wouldn't have the novelty factor anymore for them and could flop like Goldfrapp.

Random, should go with Cover My Eyes.

I odnt think it matters what they release of the album as it wont do well, that era is finished in the UK.

Don't like this at all, far too shouty. Agree with everyone else its pointless releasing another single now.

Album is full of singles material: Tigerlily, Colourless Colour, Reflections, but certainly NOT Cover My Eyes, it's too bland. I'm glad this is getting a release.

I love Tigerlily, but sadly it'll flop, as intrest in them have been lost :( They should go to the next album now tbh

A very random and pointless release. It's a great song, but the album was released over a year ago and a single hasn't been released by them since November. ^_^

Except Kate Nash didn't have a second follow-up hit and was generally only good for Foundations.
