I would say the best girl group to compare the saturdays too would be Atomic Kitten, have the ocasion single which sells alot, the others all chart resonably well with in the top 10, apart from the odd single (AK = Follow Me, Sats = Work) no one other than die hard fans seam to admit to liking them, yet they still do well.... There is also seams to be the same mass promotion going on by the sats that AK used to do for every single.

You fascinate me so much Bertie. You really do

He stated that the Saturdays are as big as the Girls Aloud were in their early days, and that's not true. I didn't start the GA comparaison at all, only corrected him ;)

Are you really that deluded ?

All of the Girls Aloud albums have gone platinium. It didn't take them years and years to be consistent album sellers, even if they didn't reach number 1.

GA's second album has sold about 600k and had 5 top5 hits on it. How much has sold 'Wordshaker' again ?

And technically their first album to get to #1 was "Sound of Girls Aloud", and it sold over 1 million copies, without the X Factor. So please, don't make a fool of yourself ...

I'm not saying The Saturdays will never be huge, but their career so far is nothing close to the Girls Aloud's early career at all.

yeah! because of x factor... if cheryl didn't join it they would be dead now!

their second album didnt sell 600k, don't lie

But The Saturdays are more popular than GA were starting out, singles wise at least. Albums wise, not so much. But like I said in my last post, that's because they came from a reality TV show and managed to garner some success, back when album sales were about 10x stronger than they are now. Without X Factor, 'Out Of Control' would have struggled to get to 300k, they'd have split before now. They're very lucky to have gotten that break (well Cheryl is).

The main difference between GA and The Saturdays is the music, simple as really. The stuff that The Saturdays are releasing could easily have been released by any other singer in the charts today, whereas when Girls Aloud started out, their songs were more memorable (god I nearly typed rememberable there haha). I do like The Saturdays though, their music is... nice. I think if they want to get more success and finally bag that number one though, then it needs to be better. I thought Chasing Lights was a really good debut, and while Wordshaker had good songs on it, to me it felt so disjointed and lacked any direction, nor did it flow. It almost felt like a collection of dare I say b-sides. Headlines is the same too, it just seems like nice inoffensive pop songs that have no identity.

Like I said I do like The Saturdays and the girls all seem lovely. Missing You is great too and Higher is the best choice for follow up, I just think they could be so much better. (don't hate me please haha)

I hate it when people say anyone could have sung it, isn't that the same with all songs? It could have been the other 5 girls in Popstars The Rivals singing Sound Of The Underground and all of GA's music.

:o Wow I thought them collaborating with Flo Rida was just all rumours

Good decision though as people would buy both versions (album and single version) and so they will get a higher peak

It sold 593,828 copies

And how can you say they would be dead by now without the X Factor? The Greatest Hits sold over 1 million without X Factor, and don't tell me that all greatest hits do that. It was the biggest sales for a greatest hits that year, and not that many artists have done that well with a greatest hits last decade. If anything it shows the public had a huge interest in them, and anyway "Tangled Up" sold 500k WITHOUT Cheryl on the pannel (she joined the year after).

Looking forward to hearing the new version with Flo Rida.

They might finally get a #1 single if its released on a quiet week

Hope they don't delete the Frankie's part :P

it'll be on the middle 8 presumably.

I'm really excited but dreading Flo's parts. I'm excited because I like Flo's additions to songs usually, so it'll be interesting to hear him on 'Higher'. However, I get the feeling they're going to cut out Una's note :( I really hope they keep that bit in as it's the best part of the song imo.

No more Girls Aloud nonsense please, I'm sick of reading through it.

If you want to discuss them and their sales, go to their forum. Comparisons are just silly, but you are free to feel whatever you want.

Just don't keep waffling on about it, Thanks :D

This!!!

What's the point of having a GA forum if you're just going to come in this one and babble on about them -_-

I think Higher is going to sell hell of a lot more than Missing You. They always seem to have their 2nd/3rd singles do better than the 1st!

so can I, but people will download both verions.. another top 10 defo.

Nice performance. Lol @ 2:16, poor Vanessa

OK, it has grown on me and I like it now! Hopefully a huge hit for them, I want the girlbands to be trendy again. :kink:
