Bleh, I'm so bored of 'Try Sleeping...' now :puke: Such an overrated song and I adore Alicia.

Label: J Records

Precocious R&B vocalist/pianist Alicia Keys was hand-picked by Clive Davis as one of the flagship artists for his post-Arista label, J Records. No doubt he was as impressed by her multitude of skills (Keys took a large role in the writing, arranging, and production of her debut album) as by her music, which mates contemporary hip-hop accoutrements to an old-school soul sensibility a la Jill Scott or D'Angelo. Only 20 years old at the time of the album's release, Keys already seemed poised for a major career built upon her soulful voice and classically trained piano chops. While hip-hop played a much bigger role on her second effort, 2003's THE DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS, it was a smash nonetheless, and subsequent recordings have further pushed the boundaries of R&B - HMV

Waka Waka still being top 40 a month after the conclusion of the world cup, and with still no airplay/video play massively confuses me. I can only assume it's people downloading it having come back from European summer holidays where it's still being hammered?

Reggie must be a huge fan of Family Guy, Bruce was only ever named in one episode in the entire omnibus.

Sounds about right. Anyway, it's had an amazing run considering it's #21 peak.

Marina should have been a lot higher, at least it spends a week inside the top 40.

The origins of Train's widescreen, Americana-tinged rock lay in the coffee-house acoustic duo that singer/songwriter Pat Monahan inaugurated with guitarist Rob Hotchkiss after the two left the L.A. band the Apostles. Eventually they expanded to a full band and released their first album themselves before it was picked up for wider distribution. Though initially a sleeper, it slowly produced a couple of hits, and the 2001 follow-up DROPS OF JUPITER broke Train through to full-fledged star status with its grandiloquent title track. - HMV
