The problem is, come midnight, the very first sales will vanish from its bars, so it's likely to either stall or plain fall...

They'll vanish for the bars, but not from the accumulated total.

First of all, amazing order for The Sats cherry picked album tracks

But it's a doubled-edge sword though - the more the tracks sell now, the less they'll do when they really need it - on official release!

But for it to get any sustained high sales it needs to go top 10 so it can benefit from being on the front page of iTunes. Unfortunately it doesn't look like doing so :(

Who cares? If they're going to sell 200k anyway they will do eventually, regardless of whether they've been available for a while or not . 'Ego' only peaked at number 9 and spent just the week in the top 10 (iirc) despite selling nearly 300k in total.

By the way things are going Roll Deep looks set to be #1 on Sunday, are their bars still increasing?

Looks like Chase & Status are gonna be stuck at #11  same way the Hoosiers did

Glad for the saturdays songs, Died in you eyes & Higher are just pure EARMGASMS!

I really want inna to get top 15 atleast

Yay! It's a great track, hopefully it will be the next single and go top-20. ^_^

ok random question but itunes related, when a person has brought say 3 singles off an album then pays the extra to complete the album does the 3 original tracks/singles purchased get taken off the singles sales total for the artist. if not that means buying stuff only once is adding more than one sale to the artists tally?

^ If you buy 3 tracks as singles then buy the remaining tracks individually to make up the album then to my knowledge those sales count individually agaisnt each track (same as if you cherry picked a few favourite tracks). If instead you subsequently buy the album as a whole then that counts as an album sale and the 3 original single sales stay as single sales as you've effectively brought 2 copies of those 3 tracks.

This is how I believe it works but if anyone knows different ?

So, if you use the complete the album thing, it counts as all the other album tracks getting a sale, and the album doesn't get a sale?

It makes sense I suppose. If that's the case, then a lot of Katy Perry's album tracks might chart very high in the US, after all her promo singles and everything.

If you already own 3 songs from an album, and you use the "complete your album" feature - 1 sale is subtracted from the "each" of those 3 songs, and 1 sale is added to the album.

Do you know that for sure?

Does that, theoretically, mean that tracks could get negative weekly sales then? I mean, you could buy some album tracks one week, and then the following week, complete the album. If nobody else buys any of those songs, then they would have -1 sales for that week.

Theoretically yes, but that is unlikely to happen, as we don't all have the same buying habits.

There will always be ppl buying tracks off an album that were released as singles months ago - The NOW compilations are a classic example. In theory, anyone who wanted California Gurls or Americano should have bought the single versions, yet the versions on NOW 76 made it into the Top 30 on iTunes.

What if there was a large gap between single purchases and Complete My Album, for instance i purchased both Rude Boy + Te Amo off Rated R, during their chart peaks, and I only bought Rated R yesterday, so how does that affect sales then, surely they can't take sales off tracks that were bought months ago!

You might have bought Te Amo & Rude Boy during their chart peaks, doesn't mean everyone else has:

Current iTunes Top 100

74. Te Amo - Rihanna

99. Te Amo - Rihanna

104. Rude Boy - Rihanna

There's unlikely to be a negative number because the number of ppl completing an album is tiny compared to sales of individual tracks in any given week.

We're not clones - we're all introduced and enticed to buy songs at different times. There are still some ppl who have only just decided to buy Te Amo and Rude Boy.

The track total for the week is always likely to be positive.

Do you have proof about the thing Britster?
