Garyfeld - The Peter Andre Single may be the only 1 in the wrong place.

The OCC did not actually tell me that one was No.106 - I asked which

Singles 'just under the Top 100', were closest to 1 Million. I was then given

No's 101 to 105.

I THEN asked:, 'Is 'Mysterious Girl' close to a Million?' I was told that it

was on 950,000 Sales. It is I who have put it in 106th place - forgetting that

other Singles may well be above 950,000 Sales, but not - yet - in the Top 105.

If we assume that these 5 have barely increased their Sales since November

2002, then these would be from No.106 to 110, I guess - with Peter Andre in

111th place:,

106) UNDER THE MOON OF LOVE - SHOWADDYWADDY (1976) - 985,000

107) THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT - TIGHT FIT (1982) - 978,000

108) BACHELOR BOY - CLIFF RICHARD & THE SHADOWS (1962) - 976,000

109) TELSTAR - THE TORNADOS (1962) - 967,000

110) AMAZING GRACE - ROYAL SCOTS DRAGOON GUARDS (1972) - 962,000

111) MYSTERIOUS GIRL - PETER ANDRE (1996/2004) - 950,000

It's pure conjecture, but "Telstar" may have climbed a place or two due to the recent Joe Meek movie, and "Bachelor Boy" would have had some minimal increase due to mass population of Cliff fans (some of whom may acutally have access to iTunes!), can't see any increase for the others though...
101 - 106 cant be in the correct order, because there are still records missing from the original top 100 run-down of all time, with

songs that had sold over 950,000 at that time (many years ago!)

them being :

AMAZING GRACE : Royal Scots Dragoon Guards 962,000

TELSTAR : Tornados 967,000

BATCHELOR BOY : Cliff Richard 976,000

THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT : Tight Fit 978,000

UNDER THE MOON OF LOVE : Shawaddywaddy 985,000

They probably just revised some sales...

Long Haired Lover might have just been pushed over the million when it was mentioned on the chart show not long ago

Well, I'm floundering a bit, with the Peter Andre Single - I've

probably still got it too high, by estimating that it is the UK's

111th Best Selling Single.

Eventually I'll try to get more precise details of the Sales

of 'Bleeding Love', 'Crazy', & 'Whole Again'.

Plus the status, (as regards being close - or not - to a Million),

of 'White Christmas', 'I Will Survive', & 'Don't Stand So Close To Me'.

I saw the Joe Meek Film - and, (before I did), I assumed that it would

cause several of 'his' old Hits to get a Downloads boost. However, the

Film was awful, & I assume that anyone who did see it already had

Joe Meek Compilations & so on. (The Film made him look like a very

dangerous & unstable Fellow - which he turned out to be, of course!).

Cliff Richard Fans tend to buy his Hits via Compilations, or 'Live' DVD's,

these Days - and now the 'Daily Mail' is going to be giving away his

old Films, from Saturday, (18th September), onwards.

Well it was said bleeding love was on 989k selling 300 per week a couple of months and crazy on about 985 selling 400 a week. Also poker face is on around 996k now selling 1-2k a week I think (from vc figures) so id think they would all be b4 mysterious girl if its only on 950k...

cheers all for the figures...it all makes intreresting reading and new facts!

its great to see so many coming up to the magic 1,000,000 number!

The latest, (W/E 16th October), 'Music Week', reports that:,

1) 'Poker Face', by Lady GaGa, has just become the 102nd Million Selling

Single in the UK.

2) It sold 1,418 copies last Week - to bring its UK Total to 1,003,011.

3) It is only the 13th UK Million Selling Single by a Solo Female.

Music Week also published sales figures of 995k for Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' so - unless 'Bleeding Love' gets there first - I think 'Crazy' could become the 103rd million seller. :D

How close is Bleeding Love (officially!) Its kind of driving me mad not knowing

I would've thought 'Bleeding Love' would be around 998k but that's purely a guesstimate. :P

Mikey mentioned in the sales thread this week that it was on 999.5k. His source was on haven forum. Based on what it was selling earlier in the year when IGF passed the mil I would've expected it to be a bit less, and I can't specifically think of anything recent which would've given leona a boost (unless she's been on XF? I note she is on the front of the XF mag so I suppose that's something). Crazy was neck and neck with it and is very close though so it must be over 990k and could be that close by now

Hopefully they'll tell us when it passes the mil. And btw they didn't mention PF immediately it didn't pass this week, probably 1-2 ago so I think they've just taken the chance to mention both it and SoF now one of the artists has something new out so is worth mentioning. I think both are equal achievements though SoF gets more ongoing airplay and took longer ;-p

According to Biggest Selling X-Factor Hits Top 30 broadcast on 4Music TV, "Bleeding Love" sold 995,000 copies to chart week ending 18th September.
Bleeding Love is at 999,500 :D So will be confirmed as a million seller by the end of the year probably.
There have in fact been 101 million+ sellers up to August 2010. The 101st being Bing Crosby - White Christmas
Must be the only significant chart that Madonna does not feature in, i dont think she is even close :(

Haha, the Ofiical Chart Company don't actually regard White Christmas as a million sekller as most of its sales pre-date the start of the official charts :)

Was thinking that Rod Stewart - Sailing must have made it now Wasn't too far according to zeus' contact at the OCC!
Does anyone think love the way you lie will become the first million selling single of the 2010s decade?
