The amount of ideas she has is definitely admirable (despite not all of them quite working) and the whole album is pretty incredible/zany for someone as mainstream as her. Scheiße! Ridiculous! The middle section is annoyingly saggy though and she should have thrown the bonus tracks onto the second disc - they bring the quality down. I might have to do that for her.

Yoü and I made me cringe - especially the middle eight. It's so f***ing Shania Twain. It works live but feels out of place on the album.

Bizarrely my ratings are essentially the same as yours Ryan. Perhaps Judas more of a 9. 'Scheiße' is the best thing she's ever put out to date.

I don't understand the sandwiching of the "bonus" tracks around the standard edition tracks. She goes on about the album being a body of work. Adding (what are weak) tracks on alters the flow and feel of the album entirely?!

Just listened to the bonus tracks. Can easily see why they didn't make the main album, 'Fashion Of His Love' seems to be the only decent one but there are already tracks on the album doing the same thing even better (the intro reminds me a lot of 'The Edge Of Glory', but less so during the rest of the song).

Oh my. This album is galaxies away from The Fame and an improvement of the brilliant Monster EP. Not a single track that disappointed me, although a lot of them will struggle to find success in the charts. Amazingly, i think some of the tracks will easily been played in places that "mainstream" pop is never their fave choice. Anw, i will avoid the rate cause i'm not able to control the excitement. From fave to least fave, so far:

The thought that this album may not match the success of The Fame Monster is depressing.

The Queen is IDENTICAL to TEOG! Not a bit of a diff except the queen uses a guitar instead of a sax!

I mostly agree with you (although I choose to view Yoü and I as being Sheryl Crow instead). I downloaded the album as I didn't want the bonus tracks ruining the CD and I couldn't bring myself to buy the motorbike monstrosity. Download and change cover art, perfect. (Plus I consigned Bad Kids to the bonus disc along with all of the extras and replaced it with Bad Romance as I still haven't heard it quite enough!)

Got my copy today (after pre-ordering it in store at HMV on Thursday - I had to go in an get it myself. But they saved a copy just in case they sold out etc.) and I bought the standard edition, for the reason that the bonus tracks weren't really all that and I thought the deluxe was ridiculously over priced. £7.99 for potentially one of the best albums of the year? YES PLEASE. Not listened to the CD version yet, as I had to go straight to work after I got it, but I can't WAIT to blast it out tomorrow! It sounds so good loud on my iPod!

Lady Gaga debuts at #1 on the Oricon Daily Album Charts (Japanese official sales day to day chart) with 45,858 copies sold

Oh yessssssss!!!! That's HUGE for a western artist in Japan as well!

So, 94,000 on it's first day in the UK. Huge sales. She's definitely heading for over 200,000 but it will no doubt slow down for the next few days. She'll need over 210,000 to beat Adele's opening week, which she should manage no problem. Brilliant sales so far anyway!!

Born This Way will do 200k+ in the UK and in Japan it will do 175k+.

I wonder what's the situation in the US at the moment for this albums sales...

Ugh I just saw some of the Born This Way Deluxe CDs (US Edition) and the errors have been corrected in theirs (The cross between Black Jesus and Amen Fashion is put at the right place).... How unfair to the UK fans -.-

You know, Your sarcasm would be funny if it wasn't so tedious.

Anyway, Good news.

shouldnt this have a new thread some 18 pages ago?

What would you gaga fans classify as Born this way in terms of genre?

I like to be very organised on my itunes and i am not sure what to have Born this way under in terms of genre. I am thinking maybe Electronic. I wouldn't say Pop. It's beyond pop

Edited by David John

As pointed out by Steve the old thread was way beyond the 50 pages limit.

Currently on course to become #1 in UK (first two-day sales of 94k), US (up to a million copies), Japan (first day sales of 45k) and just about every other country out there. :D

And yes, Heavy Metal Lover is still the best thing on there. So continue chat in here!

Yeah I've just taken the liberty of making a new thread so I guess a mod can close this one now.

Just say Pop music, afterall it is pop music with a ton of different genres put in so overall it's still Pop.

We'll just round this topic up to 70, then move on to the second thread JΛRK just created.

I'm still not keen on the three bonus tracks, they're such a disappointment compared to all the other tracks on there. HML, S, and BM are my Top 3 now.
