'Alors On Danse' is now up to #21, I still think this could do some damage (potentially).

Hoorah! The higher it can get, the less likely Radio 1 will be to take it off their playlist/more likely that they might move it up to A-list.

It really doesn't deserve to go the same way as Shakira/Hurts/Lena/Keri etc...in being another big Euro #1 translating to a non top 20 here :(

To be fair, Waka Waka and I Like were HUGE for #21 and #34 hits respectively... particularly I Like, top 40 for 6 weeks despite not going higher than 34... even if it did plummet after dropping out of the top 40

And Waka Waka was top 40 for 11 weeks, despite the fact it was a World Cup song and the World Cup ended about halfway into its top 40 run

Hurts and Lena were indeed pretty much flops :( I don't understand why the UK haven't taken to Hurts, they came 3rd in the Sound of 2010 poll...

I really think they still have time. The song is somehow likely to stay top 40 this week, and the album is out next week, which could lead to a third week based on cherry picking. I think they appeal more to the sort of 25-40 age bracket rather than the teenagers that download songs on iTunes though...

On suck my pop kimberley has said its very very close between Olly & Katy.

Olly should still hit it though. If he beats perry that would be amazing considering how huge katy perry is atm! Olly will have a huge album by looks of things. He really should have won, but maybe its a blessing in disguise like it was for JLS, runner up being bigger then the winner, i can see it happening again this year. :)

Hurts I guess are very out of vogue here at the moment, would have done a lot better in early 2009. What I hate about the UK charts sometimes is it's like we're only permitted to have one or two genres do well at a time and if something goes out of fashion, nobody can get a hit from that genre for years until it comes back around. In almost every other country this is not the case, just go on any iTunes from any country and they've got a huge range of genres, whereas we've often got an almost fully urban influenced top ten. Or last year the electro fad grew and started saturating the charts, before disappearing again, and now acts like that can't get a hit...very bizarre. Not to mention the almost 100% absence of any rock or indie in the charts upper echelons these days.

I don't understand Waka Waka and I Like's chart runs...safe to say, had they been given Radio 1 playlisting they would have had far higher peaks, which both deserved. As for Lena, I guess Eurovision has a huge stigma here so it was no surprise. But it went #1/top 3 almost everywhere else in Europe :drama: Again, this is partly down to lack of continued exposure/support from radio and TV, and probably partly because publically raving over a Eurovision song isn't exactly a done thing in the UK  Whereas other countries are able just to accept them on face value - as normal songs, just like any other chart hit.

Stromae has reached a new iTunes peak, so in a way, it's more popular now in the UK then it's ever been before. And there's no reason why it can't keep climbing weeks after it's released. I mean, it's relying basically solely on Radio 1 now. If it ever gets to mainstream commercial radio, it'll start doing much better. The song is good enough to be huge if enough people hear it. It's YTD #1 in some countries at the moment.

LOL

Watch all the Alex fans come out with the JLS insults now

I agree though. Epic seems like a much better label than Syco (Yes I know Olly is on a joint deal) and if Olly can somehow get a number 1 this week.. Then I think he has a VERY good chance of an X Factor slot with his next single = successful next single and album to come

Saturdays - Higher  to #67. I can see this being massive when the promo campaign kicks in.

Can be, but not sure about the collaboration with Flo Rida.

One thing you *can* be sure of - *I* won't be buying it!

I really like both Alex and JLS, but felt that JLS should have won that year and felt Beyonce had something to do with it. But glad they are both doing well. At the moment, I really don't like both of their new songs.

I would be worried if Olly didn't get #1, first he is physically here promoting compared to Katy, his song is available physically and been promoting it actively, while Katy has done nothing really to tell people her single is out. Katy is American and so her promotion is with the US. If she was here actively promoting like she is in the US, then there is doubt she will be #1. There is a huge marketing expense with Olly compared to Katy and it was kinda of expected that Olly would be #1.

It's like this every single year about the winner and runner up. I doubt Joe will not be able to sell more than Olly (other than maybe giving him a crappy debut single). With such a huge margin of win (62%) - and that is him not using any tactics at all to win, Joe has gotten a lot of appeal, plus probably a huge gay fan base now. Also, Joe's songs throughout X Factor went in the charts and had massive increase in sales compared to the other contestants. "Dont Stop Believing" is perfect example. It never went into the Top 10 before until Joe sang it (when it was release in 1982, it only went as high as #62).

If Syco has done justice with Joe, it will be the same as before with the winner selling huge amount compared to the runner up. Excited to see what Joe will bring out!

Lena would have done better if iTunes had handled her release better

True, in terms of a peak, but it still would have gone 21-59-OUT or something instead of 30-59-OUT...not exactly a vast improvement :(

What do you think about the new Shakira & Dizzie single? :P

I think it would have gone top 10 if it was actually available within 24 hours of her winning TBH!

Hey guys,

Not sure how this will work for the official chart, but how do they account for Katy Perry's three of the same songs? Are they going lump it together? Because if they do that, Katy looks to take the #1 spot.

Yes, they'll be combined, but even so Katy is pretty unlikely to take #1 I think... she could but if she does it'll only be by a few k. (1-3)

Anyway, KP album version up to 9 and Yolanda Be Cool back in the top 10 at #10, P&P down to 11.
