December 20, 201212 yr spot on Andrey, that's exactly what it is. When you're 14 music is sooooo exciting, and when your brain cells start dying off in your 20's onwards it's not quite so vivid, and when the brain cells really kick in in the 40's something really odd happens. You can remember new stuff well for a couple of years, then they quickly fade away, but stuff you knew all the words to at 14 will mostly last a lifetime, it doesn't fade. I can sing along to most songs up to the mid-90's, after that I need refresh listening a couple of times before I can do the same, even though it's more recent. That's why old people also have low opinions of recent music: they can't remember any of it! :) Good point, John! :D I've never thought of the subject from that angle, but this idea seems to me quite reasonable. On a funny side i would just note that in the 60's they've had lyrics which were far easier to remember: "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah..." or "Sha-La-La-La-Lee" or ... "Sha la la la la la la sha la la la la la la la" :D So you had some advantages over those people who were born some decades later :D

August 29, 201410 yr My faves are 60s & 90s 60s (especially from around 1964 on) music was just the ultimate and so diverse in its genres - with bands such as Beatles - Stones - Small Faces - The Who - Beach Boys etc and genres such as Motown, Soul & the Mod stuff 90's had brilliant dance music with Hardcore, Techno, Rave etc - admittedly mostly mainland Europe. 50's - just didn't get excited about any of the music then 70's - I thought the music was so bland and teeny orientated. Apart from Philly, Funk & the odd rock band or 2 that is. Punk was absolute crap. Best of the 70s though was Northern Soul but it didn't make it very far mainstream. 80's - best of the music was American Rock. 00's - was one of me least favourites due to all the urban and Rap rubbish. Just didn't get it at all. Edited August 29, 201410 yr by euro music
