If Brandon sold 100k in the first two days, then it looks like he'll not only beat Eminem's first week tally this year (139k) but also his first week tally last year (166k). :o :o :o

If so, that is astonishing in today's climate!

How much have The Killers albums sold in their first week and in total?

Not sure about 'Hot Fuss' but I could be wrong...

'Sams Town' ~250k? - Maybe?

Found this in that Chart Vault part of the forum...

48 06 Dec 200.299 The Killers Day & Age

EDIT: Found out 'Sam's Town' actually did 260k+ in it's first week :o

Flamingo is on special offer at the Amazon MP3 store for £3.99 so I'm guessing some people have bought that as it's quite a good price compared to buying the CD which is obviously dearer. It's probably on special offer/impluse stands at supermarkets as well which will lead to sales if people are fans of The Killers

I'd say it's a good album but it just sounds like a Killers album pretty much. He's got a good voice but I reckon he should have moved away from the sort of thing The Killers would make to give himself more of an identity if he was thinking of continuing to release solo material. Good sales for him if those are true though, 100k+ is quite hard to shift nowadays in a week especially when you look at the amount of publicity Katy Perry has had and then look at her first week sales here and in the US

If he's shifted 100k+ in the first two days, surely he's looking at around 200k for the week? :o

In this climate, and this far away from Xmas, that is astonishing! Surprised MW didn't mention it being over 100k, but I assume that's from Monday and Tuesday sales and therefore on Tuesday mids it was probably sitting at around 70k.

Yeah it is a very Killers sounding album, but in that article he explains that he never actually planned going solo. The other 3 members all wanted a break, where as Brandon didn't and he wrote the songs on his album, in mind for a Killers album, which is why he worked with Stuart Price again.
Waitttttt :o have I missed something. Brandon Flowers set to sell over 100k this week? :o :o

Waaaay over 100k if the report is true. Probably looking at around 200k in total, maybe just a bit short. :o

I have a feeling it was like you said Spidey and it sold about 70-80k on those two days mentioned, as opposed to the full 100k (that it suggested) and it actually will end up on around 150k, which by no means is a bad thing, but it's just been slightly over exaggerated maybe? I hope i'm wrong though!

Am I the only person that thinks 100k is a bit too high, I could be wrong, but I can't fathom how the album would sell 100k in 2 days. When #1 albums were struggling for the past couple of weeks to sell more than 40k plus.

But then Same Difference are on a much smaller independent label - both Mcfly and Sugababes are on a massive label, who aren't exactly gonna be happy (to put it mildly) that they'll continue to slip down the midweek chart. Same Difference have had limited promo - Mcfly and Sugababes when releasing are on all the shows possible that will let them sing and they also have heavy rotation on the music channels and radio. The majority of the public know when a Mcfly and Sugababes song is released, most people wouldn't know a Same Difference song was released last week. So really, that remark is void

And how have either band earned the right? Mcfly have never sold well - just took advantage of low sales in the low sales period, and only 1 Sugababe of the current lot has achieved any sort of success with Amelle briefly glimsing success on a record with Girls Aloud and the other with the last Sugababes #1 back in 2007.

Yes, but that's self fulfilling isn't it. Same diff are on a small indie label because of lack of interest and sales (despite the biggest promo and exposure there is these days in the form of xfactor).

Mcfly are very indie (hilariously) its their own label ffs so ur comment is void.

The sugababes are a hard comparison to make, in the fact its more brand than band clearly, though I think saying amelle has only glimpsed success with GA is a bit delusional (I know ur a fan though)

Also mcfly DID sell well- relative to everyone else at that point. All sales were low then and they were one of the biggest sellers for a few years despite some abysmal chart runs. Can't really compare it to sales nowadays its not realistic.

Ps I hope ur didn't take my comment personally wasn't directed that way, SD are fine in my book just the irony occurred to me :D

The report says 100k in the first two days so if they've got the 100k and the 2 days right, that means 100k by 11:59pm Tuesday.

So the Tuesday mids figure would be about 70k-ish I think (i.e. sales on Monday), and 30k+ on Tuesday taking it to 100k+ in two days.

The 70k Tuesday mid sale would give approx 210k if the Tuesday mid->Sunday total multiplier of 3 still exists - but I've not looked at album sale multipliers for a while now, so am not sure - it may be waay lower if he's front loaded - perhaps even as low as the 150k you've said Jonjo.

Yeah I'm surprised too - and particularly surprised that MW didn't mention it. How much did Eminem sell in his first Tuesday mid? Did MW report it?

Is Brandon Flowers really that popular? I didn't even know who he was until his single came out.

Are you serious? I thought everyone knew who he was and what band he fronts...

Brandon Flowers selling 100k in the first week? Probably not as his single wasn't really a 'hit', But Kudos to him if he does.
Well The Killers' albums have all opened highly, why wouldn't Flamingo?

Yeah, I definitely knew about The Killers, but I didn't know the names of the individual members. I guess I'm just very out of touch.

Whenever Crossfire is on the radio it's introduced as something along the lines of 'Crossfire, the first solo single by Brandon Flowers from The Killers'

AHHH! Amazing! :o Really pleased and thrilled for him to sell so much in his first two days (if it's true!)

I am *extremely* sceptical about that - maybe that was world wide sales?

In any case, if it *had* sold that many here, surely it would have been specifically mentioned in the mids.

I didn't know who he was, either.

I rarely do, unless the person in question is part of a band I closely follow.
