Completely agree, really disapointing, just secures the view that he will have no longevity in music.

Completely disagree.

 

(1) The song is great track. He really never fails to surprise you with he comes out with. Lyrics are chatty, enjoyed the feel good uptempo production and very surprise that his voice can do that; probably one of the most versatile artist around. Joe's is definitely 100 times better than Olly's song. Got really board with Olly's and he couldn't even sing the high bits to his OWN song.

 

(2) The video is very appropriate for the song. Come on. It's a uptempo "happy" song, do you expect - suits and orchestra for a song like that. And Nigel Dick who actually did brilliant videos for songs like this such as "Baby hit me one more time" added the color and life that is about the song. It's no ballad and definitely not boring.

 

(3) He looks AGE APPROPRIATE, which is very important. What do you want him in a suit and not acting like he is 19 years old?!! He is young and a teenage popstar and should be what he is. NOT a Michael Buble copy cut. He is not 30 years old.

 

(4) Glad he actually showed he can move and dance, something that he really wanted to do but didn't really show during X Factor. And, the dancing is not fun and looks like he is enjoying himself. And the choregraphy fits the song and their is nothing "terrible" about it really.

 

(5) Aside, he looks really good in this video, showed his mature youth. As people were saying during X Factor, he does look "gorgeous". Moving away from the "cute" factor to the "sexy" factor.

(6) Joe really has widespread appeal. I am surprise about the different people that like Joe. Girls, mothers, grandmothers, college / older men, etc. And now, he has the gay market.

 

During the ITV evening news with Pam Royle and Ian Payne on Monday, they interview Joe in person and Pam (an older woman (probably a mom)) is like smitten by him and even discusses how she FOLLOWS him on twitter during the news report. LOL!

As for the song, I like it - its uplifting and I couldn't give a toss if it was a cover or not - he's not the first person to release a cover version and wont be the last.

 

I dont mind the video - again it suits the song - the dancing is ok - and its just 1 part of the video.

 

It will be interesting to see how this fairs - It is very radio friendly and no doubt a performance on the X Factor will secure it being number 1.

 

And as for the first comment above - coming from a Leona fan - who has released nothing but ballad after ballad is hilarious.

1. well he was on X-factor in which he was quite good and surprised me a few times

 

2. I think the video is alright in certain parts and cringey in others, but not awful. Just below average

 

3. Anyone can be relevant to the music industry with the right material, don't judge him until you hear the album. You could easily say ADELE is irrelevant now because her style of music doesn't fit mainstream music atm, but look at what a little bit of exposure did to "make you feel my love". Being relevant is all a matter of exposure and selling, so you can't make that assumption until he's actually released the single/album to buy.

5. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not a big fan of joe, but I do find him attractive.

 

6. He will have a good fanbase, but I agree about the longevity. I don't think he'll last, unless he is constantly producing great material relevant to music at the time of release. And theatre isn't bad? Heck there are tons of amazing singers in theatre that never get the recognition they should.

I criticise the MATERIAL, not the actual artist (the only thing i said was he isnt 'sexy', and i know beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, but we all know he's not sexy surely, not in any way am i saying he's ugly) , and yes i'm a leona fan but not only a leona fan so why refer to me as a 'leona fan' :huh:

Anyway hopefully joe's second song will be better.

I'm all for covers, as long as the original has had a shot itself, which in this case it hasn't :( I actually like the song and happy that joe is getting it out there, but also sad that the original won't get much of a chance. Some signature songs of great singers have been covers really. Aretha, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Leona, Freddie mercury, Elvis and many others have covered songs from time to time and made them great. The only problem I have with joe, is that he really didn't try much with it. It was as if it was just given to him, sang it completely the same as the original. He didn't add much (if anything) to it. Hopefully the X-factor performance will be good. I can see a huge production behind it possibly, which may be awkward... Ah well, guess I'll have to check out the album once it's out ^_^

Yeah, Breakeven it did sound like you have something against him and people who like him fan or no fan. Reading back, I think you know what you said was wrong so all good. But, I take offensive to your comment about me and can see very clearly as well as other people who like Joe. So don't know what your problem is with people with different opinions.

 

If "fan" means appreciating an artist's talent, learning more about the personality / goals of the artist, being constructive and opinionated about his or her work, and liking who they are as a person, then Yes, I am a "fan" of Joe, which I am very surprise at.

 

Since watching all series of American Idol and past 4 season of X Factor, no artist have made me be a "fan" until Joe. Although I like some of the artist's work that came out of these shows (Kelly, Daughtry), I never would say I am a "fan." But for Joe, watching him and getting to know him, I can say I appreciate his determination to work hard as an artist, his clear love for music, his talent and being a perfectionist, his genuine personality, and in general who he is as a person.

I don't understand why people keep suggesting Joe is (or could be) a popstar... His voice sounds weird when he tries to sing pop, like child-opera! His intonation too. He CAN sing yes, but pop? Also note this song is not a live recording, it is really adjusted up and down (up mostly).

And hell NO he doesn't look 19 (in the video at least). Would you ever act like that when you were 19? He's got a pretty face (athough the last smile in the video really kills it- you would never say 'wow handsome' but 'how cute' instead) but the whole dancing, smiling and moving in the video looks 'elementary school' - Especially the 'parade' part.

 

I feel Joe would have perfectly fitted into disney if he was 6 years younger. Now he is too old for this but still the video and his whole setup (so far) has been so disney-ish. I am curious to see in what musical direction will his management choose to push him.

 

As far as the song quality is concerned I'll simply pass. It is not BAD but it is not good either. Olly's song was better all around (in my opinion) and so was his performance- video dispite the fact Joe can sing much better.

 

When I first saw this video with the dance moves and Joe's exploding smile and happiness I could only think of.... Mary Popins! :lol:
