January 21, 201411 yr There have been strong hints that the 5th series will be the last. We are heading towards the time of the Wall Street Crash when many families had to leave their ancestral homes so that would be a natural time to end it.

We are heading towards the time of the Wall Street Crash when many families had to leave their ancestral homes so that would be a natural time to end it. but that means i'll have to sit in front of downton and cry all the way through it!. seriously i love that show and it will be devistating for it to end guess i should probably start looking for a replacement series- something like downton
October 16, 201410 yr i'm not let down by the new series at all. watched it and been a fan from the start. if anything, this series is probably more interesting than the others. so much going on at the moment and i wonder if it will make it for a 6th series? i know their's been some doubts about it's future
October 17, 201410 yr I like the new series but it's starting to get VERY tiring. The Mr. Green story still going on, Mary still undecided on who to marry, Tom inviting miss Bunting over and over again only to have her argue with Lord Grantham...
October 19, 201410 yr I like the new series but it's starting to get VERY tiring. The Mr. Green story still going on, Mary still undecided on who to marry, Tom inviting miss Bunting over and over again only to have her argue with Lord Grantham... Rather splendid episode tonight! Raabit getting the upper hand with the preposterous Bricker (after he'd finally realised Bricker was after getting into Cora's corsets rather than getting Isis's collar off!) Thank goodness Bunting has gone (even though it was Fellowes' fault for making what should have been a very sympathetic character an absolute harpie!) The only story that still holds my attention is Edith and the Marigold Dilemma! Couldn't give a stuff about Bates & Anna - I half hope that both of them get locked up for killing Green! Love Thomas - if only because he's absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous to look at - even with the rather ill look he has at present! Love Moseley because he's just the sweetest character in the show and Kevin Doyle does a fabulous job playing him.
October 20, 201410 yr I'm kind of desperate for Edith to have a happy ending, for once. She's had such a rough time! :snif:

November 2, 20159 yr I've just been looking at tonight's Twitter comments. There seems to be a lot of sympathy for Mr. Barrow.
November 9, 20159 yr And what a pile of shite tonight's final episode was. Barely four minutes for Thomas!!!!! Glad I only recorded it and FF'd to the bits of interest. All over in two minutes!

And how would you know which bits were of interest if you fast-forwarded through all but 2 minutes? Doesn't that really mean that you didn't actually watch it at all? I really enjoyed it and I'm sure they'll give Edith a happy ending at Christmas.

Actually I did watch it - but it was shite! Glad you enjoyed it though. Edit - actually it wasn't shite - I just didn't enjoy it at all. I did like DA at one time but right now I find any of the soaps superior in both writing and acting. Edited November 14, 20159 yr by Kath
November 14, 20159 yr If it hadn't been the final series, I would probably have given up on Downton part way through the run. As it was, I decided I might as well watch it to the end, having sat through all the previous series. Can anyone explain how Isobel Crawley was the only character who aged in the course of the six series which supposedly covered a period of at least twelve years?
