Posted September 28, 201014 yr Both these boyband heavyweights release their albums on the same day! (can't remember the date will edit when i'm not using my phone lol) Can TAKE THAT manage to overcome the JLS curse and win the battle of the boybands. Or can JLS "cause an upset" for the second time in 2 years and manage to fend off the other four members of TAKE THAT? Also, what do you predict for the sales of both albums? Surely they're both dead certs for at least over 150k??
September 28, 201014 yr Take That (with Robbie) vs. JLS :o I don't see them causing a second upset somehow... I predict; TT - 360k JLS - 260k but I could be way underestimating TT, how much did The Circus sell first week out?
September 28, 201014 yr There is no way that JLS will beat Take That, but both will have massive sales. Has this actually been confirmed though ? As HMV have Take That listed as 29th November I thought it was just the press talking at the moment I have a feeling JLS management/record label like to put them up against big competition  First Robbie and now Take That. Straight after the X Factor final they do have an hour long show though (an Audience with type show), so maybe the plan is to try and get a number 1 that week ? I'm not sure how much Take That will sell, but I predict first week sales of around 160k for JLS They won't match their last years first week sales even if this album is likely to be a lot better
September 28, 201014 yr Take that easily IMO. I dont think JLS will have first week sales over 200k like last year.
September 28, 201014 yr This wont actually happen will it? JLS will be crazy to go up against take that, take that will win hands down. However it is a good strategy as both bands will have bigger sales due to the battle.
September 28, 201014 yr Author I really have no clue. I think 'The Circus' sold over 450k, thanks to like special offers and stuff. I swear they were going for as little as £4 lol. But Take That will more than likely defeat them, but I believe sales will be a lot tighter than people think...
September 28, 201014 yr Even if somehow JLS managed to beat Take That on week one, I can almost guarantee that the latter would climb to #1 the following week, or a couple of weeks later. They do insanely well in the xmas market. JLS did very well last year also but TT seem to be able to shift 200k+ for weeks on end no problem in late November/December.
September 28, 201014 yr Gooddelta, I dont really get the purpose of your signature, its similar but i'm sure they're not even related. Plus, the girls wouldnt come up with the idea probably get the directors to plan out the video.. What date are they both released? Edited September 28, 201014 yr by Breakeven
September 28, 201014 yr Goodelta dont really get your signature, its similar but i'm sure they're not even related. Plus, the girls wouldnt come up with the idea prbably get the directors to plan out the video.. What date are they both released? It was a joke  I know they're not related, it's just a coincidence.
September 28, 201014 yr Really confused as to why Epic insist on putting them up against massive acts, but I guess they think it will ensure massive sales/more press and hype.. which it is already doing What date are they both released? 22nd November
September 28, 201014 yr Yeah sabrina, at the end of the day record companies arent all about position its more about sales, because the overall sales is what will bring in the revenue! They are both more likely to have higher sales when going up against eachother just because its a battle!
September 28, 201014 yr In all honesty I think Take That's sales will dwarf JLS's. I think Sabrina has a point though in that even though JLS will be runners-up ... their sales will be bigger than they would have been had they got to number 1 without any serious opposition. Given that even I'm sick of all the Take That hype at the moment and Robbie 'Brokeback' Barlow being in my frigging face every five minutes ... a part of me would like JLS to beat them. September 28, 201014 yr Just been on the HMV website and JLS are doing the slipcases again. I really don't think they had as much effect as everyone last year suggested though  This thread also reminds me of the Robbie vs. JLS one last year http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102386
September 28, 201014 yr I was one being sure last year that Robbie will win hands down. So this time i would be more caution as TT are more for the adult generation, which doesn't rush in the first day to buy an album, but when they have time, while JLS is more for the young generation, who always has time... Also a lot more people from the adult generation woud buy an album if they like the music while the young one would buy it no matter what just because all from JLS are "fit and working hard" :naughty:
September 28, 201014 yr Isnt Take That released on the 29th of november? Im sure thats what the MW article said unless its changed...
September 28, 201014 yr Should be Take That and both over 250k. I don't know. JLS can do wonders. Edited September 28, 201014 yr by FM11
September 28, 201014 yr I wouldn't totally rule out JLS winning to be honest, we all said they'd fail against Robbie last year and look what happened there.
September 28, 201014 yr Take That will come out as winners that week imo. I voted for 200-250k but I think TT will get more.
