I don't necessarily think having an unknown contest takes away the fun, in fact I would think that being the first unknown contest It would be more fun than ever since there would be mystery surrounding it.

I do think it's an interesting twist, and it'll be fun. I just have a feeling that making it a permament thing would kill the craic slightly.

TBH it being unknown is what made me want to join in seeing as I enjoyed Unknown Pleasures so much.

The anonymous thing is frustrating my no end right. Me an rich would have had like a 30PM convo about our entries by now and i would be much much much calmer about the track i am entering.

We're hoping anonymity will encourage more risks actually! I think if we get the scenario you're on about Peter then the host should inform the person their original choice is once more available but I hope that won't happen too much.

Well hopefully...I'm sure once the songs themselves are announced that will provoke alot more discussion.

 

If the anonymous thing continues, then one small tweek that could perhaps be made in the future could be instead of a list of countries that have confirmed being put up, a list of songs instead? It would mean people having to be quite discrete about when/whether they've confirmed, but it would (a) avoid situations of people not knowing what songs are/aren't free, and (B) give people more to talk about in the run up to the contest.

 

Obviously it's early days, and nobody knows how it will pan out yet, but it's just something that had occurred to me at this stage. I'm sure different things will be tried and tested anyway.

Funny thing is, I thought that a list of songs was what Phil meant by putting up the entries so far!

The entries won't be revealed until the final, creates a level playing field.

 

People who confirm early won't have the advantage of having their song available to listen to and grow for longer.

 

The idea is that the only entry you'll have known prior to me posting the final thread is your own, so you listen to everything for the first time there and then

Very true. Plus I would have made a nice big banner for my sig! And I wouldn't have to censor it in my personal chart :lol: but it's worth a go for one month at least. Nobody's saying it will definitely work - BJSC and Unknown Pleasures are two completely different beasts and what works for one may not work for the other.
