October 8, 201014 yr Epic Song. Fantastic. Well Done Take That. Thank goodness for that! Heard it this morning in the car. I like the chorus more than the verse ... but overall ... I loved what I heard. There's still something about Rob's voice that ... grates on me a bit. You can tell the other three had a hand in writing this one. It reminds me of a few songs (but that's going to be inevitable with all songs I suppose ... and I suppose it is what can give a song its hook). Overall though ... there's an epic Moody Blues sound to it. Kath Edit ... I have to add though ... that a huge part of me is glad it will never overtake Rule The World, Patience and Shine for being Take That's best work. Edited October 8, 201014 yr by Kathyp
October 8, 201014 yr Author I reckon the single and the album will be massive. Very modern sound. It will appeal to a lot of people.
October 8, 201014 yr Author Amazing song. Epic. Well Done. I'm sure it'll appeal to a lot of people. It sounds very modern. Single and album will be massive.
October 8, 201014 yr Yep it's fantastic. It has a really fresh sound for them which is good because as much as I love The Circus album it was a bit Beautiful World 2.0 in places. Progress is going to be amazing! :)
October 8, 201014 yr Oh I am so glad everyone seems to like it. I headr it this morning and thought it was great but was expecting negativity........ I suppose that still could come. :yahoo:
October 8, 201014 yr Sounds good on first listen - not bland at all like Shame - reminds me of some other song which I can't think of right now. Great to hear Rob on lead vocals. Surprised there is not more Mark though - it is sort of just another Rob vocal with Gary doing the bridge and chorus. I like the slight electro sound as I always do - but it is more orchestral than electro - in a similar type of way to the music to Bodies in the chorus. I'll need to listen a few more times to form a proper opinion but although it isnt amazing it is a massive improvement on Shame and actually sounds like a hit single on first listen. pYQvDLJyamc Edited October 8, 201014 yr by De Niro

I really like it and as you say ... a blessed relief that it is far, far better than Shame. You're going to think this weird but there is one tiny, tiny little bit of it that reminds me of Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. Kath
October 8, 201014 yr I quite liked it. It's very Robbie-heavy though? It is, and I groaned a little inside when it first started but I suppose it's to be expected for his first single back with them.
October 8, 201014 yr It seems from looking around the forums that the majority of people on BOTH Rob and TT's OS really like 'The Flood'. I am surprised at the amount of people on both who are surprised Rob is on lead vocals though. Surely it would have been beyond odd for him not to be on the first single back with the lads? We're they really expecting him on backing vocals? Anyway I've heard it a few times and it is going to be a big hit. I even think it will be a hit internationally as well if they promote it. What I like about it is that there are parts that sound like Robbie solo, parts that sound like TT4 and then parts that sound like neither. The chorus is epic - I love how fast paced it is, and the verses are quite theatrical. It's a big, bold, slightly edgy anthem brilliantly produced by Stuart Price. I would go as far as to say this has potential to become my fave TT single ever after more listens and see it live - Never Forget, Rule The World and BFG are still ahead but this could overtake soon. It is very instant. I did think JLS would beat the single to #1 but if they perform this on the XF the weekend before it will easily win surely? The single is vastly superior then I thought it would be and on the back of it, considering both sets of fans seem to really like it, I think the album will be the fastest selling in the UK since Be Here Now by Oasis and the biggest seller of the year outselling Susan Boyle.
October 8, 201014 yr pYQvDLJyamc Really, really good. Definitely up there as one of my favourites from them. Very good indeed!
October 8, 201014 yr Absoulutely adore the chorus, which is fundamentally much stronger than the verses. Anyway, heard the majority of it's premier on Moyles's show this morning and it's much more instant than what Greatest Day was. Definatly one of my favourites from them to date I'd Say :D
October 8, 201014 yr I like the song. 1000 times better than Shame! Gary kept the best one for the band album! :D The tempo around the chorus is really nice and fast and ''modern'' which is the best thing because I feared TT would try to be 'classic' in a "Shame" way. It is my favourite TT song since RTW! The lyrics are pleasant as well and the vocals perfectly set. It is one of the catchiest choruses of the year, with proper promo it will really rocket up. Although I am musically not fond of this reunion it actually turns out to be a glorious one! Thumbs up for the time being! I look forward for the live presentation. + The video looks nicely shot, nothing like embarassing 18 yo TT. We will really watch it flood radio and TV, big chance to be on the ytd top10 sales chart and dead cert to be no1 on the airplay one. I could be a hit in Europe as well if Robbie helpls with the promotion. Edited October 8, 201014 yr by 7heDreamer
October 8, 201014 yr It's better than Shame  I think I need to give it a few more listens.
October 8, 201014 yr I think I maybe quite like it  Robbie sings a lot of it doesn't he? Although I'm playing it on my crappy laptop speakers and can't hear it very well. It sounded a lot like Robbie.
October 8, 201014 yr Songs OK !!! very Take Thatish but that is to be expected , a bit overproduced for me, , I must prefer Heart & I that Robbie & Gary wrote & which sounds just fantastic on GH2 album :cheer: Hopefully something more appealing will turn up on the TT album when it is released <_<
