I've been for a nosey. People there are saying that although Rob has lead vocal, it's significant he's just in the middle of the boat and not at the front. :rolleyes: Whilst that's certainly one way of looking at it, is it not more likely he's in the middle for ballast? Put his weight at the front of that wee canoe and it would soon be doing a lovely impression of another nautical craft full of rich celebrities. This one

I only partly like the last part of the video. It is a very powerful song but the video is BAD. The white-pyjama dressed uncles are :puke2:

I do not like the concept of the video at all I was hoping for a storm something darker, misty perhaps, meaningfull at least for the big reunion... Boybands are way out of fashion in worldwide music scene and this video is even more out of fashion. I hope it won't be detrimental to the single's success because I like the song. Appart from some London pics there was nothing worthy of attention in this video. (not to mention they all looked ugly) Why the hell didn't they shoot a proper video? I bet they could have the best directors if they wanted. Videos are very important nowadays!

To be honest ... there are a few hidden messages in this video ... including the dress code. The outfits that Take That are wearing are actually out of date ... no-one has dressed like that in rowing (not for as long as I've known the sport) for a long, long time. You'll notice that the other team aren't so 'formal'. No long sleeved shirts underneath the other shirts. The shorts are shorter ... altogether more modern. It's almost like Take That belong to another time line.

 

That's what I think anyway!

 

I'm finding that the video is making me like the song a lot more. As far as the song goes .... there is one particular lyric in the song that is such a hark back to Back For Good that it's quite sweet. But having said that ... they still don't make sense. I suppose sometimes a lyric is just a lyric.

 

I'm actually OK with Rob being back now ... because I can look at Take That objectively. I don't think I'm as fanatical about them as I was 18 months ago (I was a bit mad wasn't I?) so I don't really care if there are four, five or six of them even.

 

The Flood is a good song (not great) and the video is very good ... and that is my final word on the subject of Take That.

I disagree Norma. This song is great. It's fantastic. Quite hard hitting and powerful and it's the best thing they've done. Closely followed by 'Said It All' for me. If the album is going to be like this, I may actually give it a listen!

This definitely stands up to their other 'modern classics' now in my opinon, it's so much better than anything on The Circus. I love Robbie's pre-bridge, post-chorus bit, and Gary's 'there's progress now' bridge, and the last minute or so is glorious, the strings really add the TT magic to it :wub: Maybe not as good as Shine or Rule The World, for now, but it's a stunning pop song.

 

Call me crazy but I can hear Howard really loudly on the chorus, even above the others it would seem :lol:

The fanatical thing is a bit weird Kath , you can see it in full motion on the RW & TT OS , folk need to grow up & move on. :mellow:

 

I am not bothered either about who or how many are in the Take That band as long as the music is good ...so far for me it's ' so so ' but The Flood os definately growing on me ...I like the video & it kinda strengthens the song for me , will have to hear it a couple of more times B)

They are exactly the bits that I like especially the progress bit where the backing vocals are really strong :D . Cannot wait to download it as sound on my laptop is not great. I have very high hopes for it when its released :dance:.
