Posted October 15, 201014 yr pa14VNsdSYM Lead single off her new album, Loud, where will this peak? She has a big challenge ahead of her as she will be competing against Cheryl Cole's single. So, as a bonus poll, how many copies will she sell on her release week?
October 16, 201014 yr Sadly #2 behind Cheryl Cole though I don't think Cheryl will sell anywhere near 300k like FFTL did. I think it could come down who gives the better performance actually and it honestly wouldnt surprise me if Rihanna climbed the following week (but may be thats just wishful thinking). Who knows...
October 16, 201014 yr I predict #2, but only because she's up against Cheryl - IMO her song is far better though. Great that it's pure R&B, unpolluted by rap. :) 75k-100k. Edited October 16, 201014 yr by vidcapper
October 16, 201014 yr It might be a odd opinion but I think she could actually make it to the top ... Wasn't it pushed back to the week after though ?
October 16, 201014 yr This is going to be huge. Bit fight with Cheryl for that number 1 spot. I expect Cheryl to win it even with a pile of crap as a song. Could we see the top 2 selling over 100k?
October 16, 201014 yr Great that it's pure R&B, unpolluted by rap. :) Pure R&B? There's nothing R&B in this song, it's a (pure) dance record. I predict #2 with 75K+ sales, she'll never beat Cheryl.
October 16, 201014 yr I LOVE THIS SONG! And I'm back to loving Rihanna - last time I loved her this much was around the release of 'Disturbia'. OGITW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PT. Btw, PT is an ok record but it just shows how anthemic OGITW is. This and 'Firework' will rule Fall 2010. ^_^ Anyway, I think it will peak at #2 and sell between 75k-100k in the first week only because I doubt Simon will put Rihanna up against Cheryl on XF. But Rihanna might be on the following week but regardless of an XF performance, I think it will climb to #1 in it's second week if JLS aren't releasing then. Who knows? Maybe Cheryl will do a Leona and underperform...

It's not even near contemporary R&B. It's dance. Anyway, I'd say #2 but with just over 100k sales. There's been a fake version floating around the iTunes top 60 for a while now. This is okay but it just sounds so much like Sexy Bitch but with female vocals... Edited October 16, 201014 yr by ~ braysephone ~
October 16, 201014 yr Pure R&B? There's nothing R&B in this song, it's a (pure) dance record. I predict #2 with 75K+ sales, she'll never beat Cheryl. There's some RnB in the song. Nearly all the songs in the charts can be placed into more than one genre, many into more than two. I do, however, think it sounds a lot like Kickstarts, or one of Roll Deep's songs, and they're quite dance orientated songs. Edited October 16, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob

October 16, 201014 yr Jesus, the video is amazing. I don't like the song as much as her previous stuff, but the video's made me like it a whole lot more. I reckon this could go #1, keeping Cheryl off.
October 16, 201014 yr I'd love to see 'Only Girl' no. 1 over 'Promise This' but we're talking about the UK charts so it'll definitely not outsell Cheryl Cole. -_- Rihanna to score yet another #2 but if Rihanna does achieve a "Meet Me Halfway" I certainly wouldn't complain about it. :D 'Promise This' is, imo, relatively flat in comparison - it is probably Cheryl's best song to date but - for me - that doesn't say much about the quality of Cheryl Cole songs. Voted #2 selling between 75-100k
October 16, 201014 yr It's not R&B just because it's Rihanna. It's dance, pure and simple. So is Kickstarts. Just fyi, I wasn't saying Kickstarts was RnB. I'd say the genres which Only Girl best fits into is pop, followed by dance. It sounds very europop to me. Can people understand that most songs in the charts are influenced by more than one genre? It's like how people used to say Parachute was a pop song, when really it was strongly influenced by RnB, but it had to be a pop song only, because it was Cheryl Cole.
