Guys. Seriously. 'Unknown' doesn't have to mean 'never heard of before artist'. Personally, I see no troubles with any of the entries. Everything Everything got some Radio 1 support. (but ultimately came to nothing, the average Buzzjack user probably isn't familiar with it) A Linkin Park track that, as far as I know, didn't chart either? I suppose you might know them if that's your area, but it's fair to say they aren't typical Buzzjack fodder.

 

The other complaint seems to be with Ellie Goulding, which is an unreleased track with less than 1,000 Youtube views. How many of you have heard it?

And, in short, this is exactly why I let them through. We're not going to ban an artist just because they have other popular tracks if it's something that most Buzzjack users are unlikely to hear anyway. I keep up to date with music and I can honestly say I'd never even heard of Everything Everything aside from noticing a bit of Radio 1 support (which, as I thought we established during the massive debate over the Radio 1 autobanning, isn't necessarily an indicator of cheapness?)

 

I'd say it's safe to say most people wouldn't have heard the Linkin Park track or the unreleased Ellie Goulding track. Either way, I think it's clear for everyone to see that these entries aren't the sorts of entries that were attracting complaints about the contest over the past year, in comparison to, say, Clare Maguire's track which we rejected due to the massive amount of push she's getting from her label - which would've been a proper old-school everyone would've eventually heard the track anyway scenario had we let it through and it inevitably come top three.

 

IN SHORT, I realised complaints were inevitable as people love to think they know all the right decisions when it comes to this, but seriously, get a grip people. If any of the above tracks landslides this Silly Boy style, THEN you can start complaining.

I'm actually with Tyron/Aaron on this one. I've never heard of any of these songs that are being argued about - the artist name may be familiar but this is the 'unknown SONG contest'. Sure, sending a newly leaked demo by Lady GaGa would be questionable, but Linkin Park and Everything Everything aren't exactly BJ's favourite acts - I wouldn't have banned them either if I was mod. Clare Maguire I can definitely see the case for banning though - she's being hyped all over the place and a large proportion of us will already be familiar with Ain't Nobody.
