Kylie Minogue: 'Better Than Today'

Released on Monday, December 6 2010

By Nick Levine, Music Editor

There's no set formula for becoming a first-rate female popstar. Taylor's relatable, KP works a nice line in being provocative-in-a-cartoony-kinda-way, K$'s mere existence makes you feel that bit more clean and sober than you really are, and Kylie, well, she's got what that Irish chappie with the dodgy dye job who sits alongside her sister every Saturday and Sunday night calls "The Likeability Factor".

And that's something this latest single taps into brilliantly. 'Better Than Today' isn't the freshest confection you'll sample this party season, nor the flashiest, but it's sweet, seductive and pretty much impossible not to succumb to over and over again - call it a dance-pop macaroon! Oh, and kudos to co-scribes Nerina Pallot and Andy Chatterly for coming up with probably the Kyliest Kylie lyric ever: "What's the point in living you don't wanna dance?" Someone stick it on a T-shirt NOW

Better than today has missed the offical top 59 singles in ireland this week, this hasnt happened since the IP era.
I think the single wont make top30, low 30s most likely. Its now 85 on itunes.
If it is low 30's then it won't be top 30 :P It'd be top 40.
Such a shame, I wasn't expecting a great position but I was expecting at least top 25! :( And it makes it even worse when you see that 'The One' charted just a few places below this, and that was without the help of physicals!
im hugely disapointed it missed the top 30, outside phyisicals better than today doesnt seem to have sold much at all.

Number 2 on physicals but obv didnt do that much

Im dying to see phyisical total sales for this week as im kinda expecting that sale sin total are around 10,000 and around 8,500 of those will be phyisical sales.
No I reckon 60% physical, 40% digi. It will have picked up digi bundle sales in addition to the single track downloads.
32 is rather dire, agreed, but I think it has to be considered now that Kylie is merging more into that part of her career where her fanbase are slowly making a higher percentage of her sales, not just casual music buyers. 'All The Lovers' was an exception, whereas the follow ups were relatively average (I think EMI made a proper cock up by not releasing the euphoric 'Cupid Boy' but hey!).

That's why that user said it wouldn't make top30 :P.

Anyway, disappointing chart position, but this song wasn't a favorite of mine.

Maybe if he learned to use proper grammer and punctuation
10,952 is what better than today sold last week, i would love to know how many of those were phyisical sales.

Not that this probably means a whole lot, but it was on the verge of dropping out of the top 100 on iTunes the other day and it's since risen to #83, I expect it'll probably be 60something officially this week.

I hope the album's at least in the chart.

Ya i can see better than today been around number 65 on sunday, and like that im hoping aphrodite can stay top 75 this week, if it does so 10,000 sales again this week would be possible.
