November 23, 201014 yr Absolutely agree. It's shameful to be applauding someone's failure unless they really deserve to fail and have been going on about how much of a success they are. I'm sure i see you 'hating' all over this website. :unsure: I'm still sure for top 10 after X Factor even if it isnt getting support from radio & TV. The deluxe is doing well on pre-orders atm :) Ithink it'll go top 10 before the x factor performance,and when she peforms the single will rocket into number 1 position :)

Given so, how rare/exceptional circumstances is it for PHYSICAL singles sales ALONE to get a song so high in the chart? XF performances aren't guaranteed 100% success chart topping success even with past winners/contestants. Apart from the odd exception, this thread has had its common sense/chart knowledge slaughtered by wishful thinking imo :(
November 26, 201014 yr I have no doubt this will go top 10 if she has an X Factor performance, but considering how long it has been out for and how many people already have the album, I can't see it breaking top 5. Would love it if this went to number 1 but I highly doubt it will.

This exactly what everyone was saying about #SWY and i know it was only 6 weeks old,but still .I believe that the silence will get to number 1 ,just because it's one of the best songs of 2010.

I was thinking more of a comparison to Leona's Run performance back in 2008 with it being a big ballad off a re-issued/deluxe album and getting a prime slot on the show. Run sold 132k off the back of an X-F performance depite not being available to download for another two weeks (and 255,000 copies of the album in those three weeks). Surely the potential is there to see something similar?
December 5, 201014 yr No, it wont have the same effect of Leona's, that was unique. Everyone was talking about it even before the incredible X Factor performance, Run went on to sell 650,000 on downloads alone for just being epic (also was #1 on both TV & Radio). The deluxe went on to sell over 1million copies. :D The Silence should get low top 10 though officially, maybe top 5 for a short time on iTunes then fall during the week like Gotta Be Somebody. True, so say the 'new' :blink: (which is hardly new) version isnt released till tomorrow, after her X Factor performance it'll be the 'old' version on Overcome going up the chart, and as you say most of the people who want it would already own it so isnt going to impact on the chart massively..

Yeah, I think this is what is missing from 6weeks' analysis - The Silence is already available to download,while Leona's Run was held back and was basically a new release. Run also had massive hype around it and when it is performed anywhere around the world it enters the top 10 on that countries iTunes. It is in a unique band of songs in the respect - along with Make You Feel My Love. The Silence is awesome, but just isn't on the same level. It should have a significant boost after tonight though, and I'd put that boost akin to Somewhere between Katy Perry's Firework and Diana's My Wicked heart. Although if it somehow did defy all odds and hit iTunes/Official #1 like 6weeks suggests I'd be delighted.
