It's a nice little song, and would have been better staying as an album track. It's obvious the management wanted to boost album sales over Christmas and since they couldn't release 'Coming Home' until the spring, and ballads usually sell albums more than uptempos (which would rule out Doing Fine) it was beteen Catching Snowflakes and Can't Make This Over for the single release. It was never intended to make the top ten, it was just to simply boost album sales.

which it also failed to do.

How did it exactly? It's helped push the album to 750k sales.

Not really. The album has been in the lower part of the chart since the re-release, it's only climbed up this week because of HMV sales, as many other albums did.

Tbh it was right choice. A ballad is always best in winter, and although it flopped, it's a nice song and it's a shame it flopped. Coming Home should still do well as the re-release didn't sell too much, and should bring more sales.
It's the 7th single, you would expect these singles effects on the album to be a lot less than the 3rd or 4th ones were. Did it get a physical release? I can't find it on HMV or itunes for that matter. Was it just to be cherry picked from the album?
To be fair it was the second single from the re-release so was a newer track, although having said that 'Broken Arrow' did completely flop and that was a totally new song and a ballad.
Yeah, come to think of it, the re-release as a whole has been a bit of a flop. Single choices though have what i reckon led to it not being as big. I liked Broken arrow but it wasn't a strong choice now i loook back. Should of done Coming home as the lead single and then a ballad afterwards. Without you would have been a perfect second choice.
Her re release is called turn it up-LOUDER and yet she releases 2 ballads as singles. She should of called the re-release turn it down

I never thought of that ha!

Broken Arrow was the only song choice I think they've gotten wrong really. It's a nice track but wasn't the best to lead the re-release. But all the singles have boosted the album so they are doing something right.

When you think of it, Pixie Lott singles have kinda not done THAT great.

Dont get me wrong, 2 #1 singles.GREAT. Did they sell over 300K??? 250???

And after that, the singles have been charting not that well.

Cry Me Out done really well for only charting at 12.

Gravity was a ploy to have that single released after the Brits last year with the t.v advert saying "BRIT AWARD WINNING"......

Turn It Up is just not good!!

Broken Arrow is just a flop week 1, it only cost 79p on itunes.

And honestly i didnt even know when Louder was released and if any other singles have came out.

And she cant sing for s***.

And she cant sing for s***.

She can't sing?

The singles need to be put into context though.

Cry Me Out, Gravity, Turn It Up, Broken Arrows and the re-release have all massively benefitted the album.

Gravity pushed the album right back up to #7 and it now has very healthy sales. All her singles have benefitted her.

The point of singles are to sell the album so it doesn't really matter if they miss the top 10 IF they boost the album up... and hers has.

I really have not taken to Pixie Lott at all butheard Turn It Up the other day again n have been fixated and even bought the album today - v imptressed tbh. turn it up is an amazing song and doing fine is just immense imo

Turn It Up is definitely one of Pixie's best songs.

Funny this thread got bumped up actually, because I've been listening to her version of When Love Takes Over a LOT the past few days.

Doing Fine Is crying out for a release and would bring her album to 900k.

Shame about coming home not getting released because of label problems.

Please, no more singles and no america. Move on to album #2.

I agree!!! Doin fine and then move on. It's brilliant!!

'Doing Fine' and 'Here We Go Again' were crying out to be singles! 'Doing Fine' should've been released instead of either single they released from the re-release, and 'Here We Go Again' instead of 'Turn It Up'.
