So for every download of Insatiable Tesco have to pay Nadine/her own label 40p, but they sell at 29p but are happy making a loss of 11p on each one!?

So is that how it works

ITunes sells stuff for 99p, so does the artist get 40p and ITunes takes 59p? thats awful IF TRUE!

No.

The "minimum" dealer price for a download to be chart eligible is 40p.

Oversimplifying it, on a 99p download, if the record company charges iTunes 85p for the track, the artist gets a small percentage of that 85p depending on their arrangement with the record company, publishers, etc, iTunes would make 14p.

I'm sure someone else can give you the detailed info on how it works

Those pop bars make me think that if Rihanna had performed on X Factor last week she would be the official number one right now. Do we know if Rihanna couldnt make it last week or Miss Cole requested that she perform the week after her?

Probably neither. It's not really up to 'Miss Cole', like some people think.

Whose turn is it to be hit by the chart glitch this morning...

I had to delete my update as there were so many missing tracks.

Nadine's song is just a bit boring to me though. Interesting idea, but I think Robbie Williams did it better last year, in Bodies.

Also, I'm not, in the slightest surprised by Alexis Jordan. Seriously, I've been hearing the song regularly on the radio now for about 3 months. Similar thing with Check It Out, except on commercial radio only, pretty much.

The big shock is Roll Deep. It's not had amazing promotion, but it's nit had much less than the other two singles, and the song is good enough. I thought it would definitely go top 10. The way Green Light went to #1, I thought they just had a large fanbase, but perhaps the song was selling more on merit, after all (it is very good).

Green Light is seriously one of my favourite songs of the year - the bassline was brilliant. I wouldn't have thought Roll Deep were an act with a fanbase - well scrap that, they do have an underground following but not many of those disgruntled fans are going to be buying into their new mainstream pop/dance. I know Good Times and Green Light tumbled down the charts quickly but they both sold relatively well overall, and I genuinely believe it's because they are both great party songs. But something told me that this song might struggle a bit - it just lacks a little bit of magic compared to the others. I still like it a lot but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it like I did with the other two singles - and maybe most people feel like that?

That said, even I thought low top 10/top 15 was where it was headed...it looks like it will be lucky to crack the top 30 :/

The Nadine issue just proves the people often don't care much about the music while buying the record - they care about the image created by the labels, PR agencies etc.

I don't think it proves anything about people buying music, because they've not even had the chance yet. Most haven't had the chance to hear it because of the lack of radio support, so IMO it shows that it is the people making up playlists, and journalists who care more about image created by labels and PRs than the music.

I don't think Nadine's song is quite as great as you make out, but it was good enough to be played more and would have been played much more if her image had been more carefully controlled and they'd given the press more to work with.

RIHANNA  Huge lead, another week of over 100K sales!

Happiness #3 :dancing:

Stay may get top 10 officially :o

Wow Alexis is doing really well

I know there are quite a few Kylie fans on here so thought I'd post that she dueted with JLS last night for their "This is JLS" show

They sang All The Lovers and it will be shown before the X Factor Semi Final in a few weeks time

52. Insatiable - Nadine

59. One In a Million - Ne-Yo

949. Enough Is Never Enough (Demo Version) - Nadine

Thanks for telling that, it sounds amazing!

Hope Ne-Yo climbs to top 10!

I'm a bit surprised that he is lower than Nadine, but I guess he will take off later. But now there are Taio, Roll Deep and now a slight possibility of Ne-Yo underperforming which is very, very shocking! And all in one week.

The curse of Alesha, strikes again :drama:

Nadine is doing better than I expected, all factors considering. Now #43, Ne-Yo #45. I think she'll get top-20 which isn't a massive flop.
Didn't realise Ed Drewett was out :o It's a bit low, I expected it to be huge... :(
