November 12, 201014 yr Potential Entries for BJSC XXX Hey all, here are a couple of songs I'm considering entering for the next contest. The first one is... [edit]I wholeheartedly support anonymous confirmation :) All hail the glorious regime of Silas and Tyron :) [/edit] Let me know what you think of those! Edited November 12, 201014 yr by Peter30
November 12, 201014 yr Before anybody jumps down my throat I'd like to point out that we've been instructed in the confirmation thread: "Do not post your confirmation in this thread." Since this is neither a confirmation, nor in the confirmation thread, I'm pretty sure it's alright. I doubt there's a possibility of either song being banned and the only person who could be negatively affected by my posting these is me :) I think that's a pretty trivial "loophole" you've found. I think you could be banned or end up with some punishment regardless. Edited November 12, 201014 yr by Sabrewulf
November 12, 201014 yr I think that's a pretty trivial "loophole" you've found. I think you could be banned or end up with some punishment regardless. Seriously? I honestly don't see what harm there is. I do genuinely see the advantages of having anonymous confirmation, but this is not confirmation, and it doesn't make it unfair in any way. I think if we're to have anonymous confirmation, but an open contest, then participants should be free to at least discuss what they're thinking of entering if they want to. It's just like in MelFest for example...the deliberation and selection of entries is all behind closed doors, but there is always speculation of entries before the official list is revealed. Some artists even come right out and say they've submitted a song/been accepted. No harm in it, and if I'm punished for posting a couple of songs I'm toying with and asking for an opinion on them then it really is just pointless.
November 12, 201014 yr DEFEATING THE POINT OF ANONYMOUS CONFIRMATION I thought that the point of anonymous confirmation was so that mods wouldn't be criticised for rejecting something seen as cheap. Well I'm 100% sure that these songs aren't cheap, even if they are, I admit, a bit uninspired. Anonymous confirmation is efficient and I'm for it, but we're all going to find out what got rejected anyways (or at least I hope we are), so if you're going to be criticised for rejecting certain entries it'll happen regardless, it'll just be later rather than sooner. Like I said, this is not a confirmation, and I don't think there's anything wrong with what I've just done. In fact if more people did this then they'd probably get a feel for how "cheap" an entry is percieved to be before they even officially confirm it, so it could save you alot of bother. I'm not even 100% sure you read my previous post, considering your kneejerk response which didn't actually address anything I said.
November 12, 201014 yr Author Actually Peter it responds to it just fine. The whole point of Anonymous confirmation was to allow the mods to quietly reject songs that they feel are not congruent with the contests aims [ie the discovery of new music] in a quiet and unbaised manner. It was decided that we would ban entry speculation last month and that hasn't been repealed as we felt it undermined the whole point of anonymity. Any argument on banning overshaddows the entire final which is unfair to the host, we revealed the banned entries for XXIX after the results and they were met with a calm response and that is what would happen again. Revealing what has been banned sooner could create the issues we are trying to avoid. This is not us being harsh, this is us attempting to come up with a compromise to the problems that works for the largest number of people. Also, if you enter a song that you have posted in some form of thread before the final begins and nobody else has, it gains an unfair advantage. That is one of the positives we noticed from the anonymous confirmation. Everything begins on a level footing. There will be no discussing of your entry until the final begins, at which point feel free to discuss your XXX entry until you are blue in the face. Either you or I can edit your post, either way its happening [/NuTirren]
November 12, 201014 yr Author I think you mean: Anonymous confirmation is the best thing to happen to BJSC since it's inception! All heil Mein Führer's Silas and Tirren and their utterly brilliant, faultless regime! :kink:
