As the title says. We're not putting it to a vote for the obvious reason that I'm pretty sure nobody wants to go back to the state we were in before, but given we're quite open-minded on this issue if we have a majority of people say that it was an interesting experiment but probably isn't necessary, we're more than happy to go back to the way it was before.

I don't personally think it made an awful lot of difference apart from taking away a ton of discussion and activity participation (TWO sets of odds? :drama:), but I'll go with the majority decision as I didn't mind either way of doing it. I did miss making a nice banner for my entry though :snif:

I am indifferent tbh. Keep it anonymous or not - I'll accept.

It's only us who do them anyway :( I seriously don't know what everybody is so afraid of or whatever. :wacko:

I think as I said in the other thread, anonymity should be kept until the final to remove the annoyance/pain of artist reservation etc. and the current anti cheap rules should be kept too. But as soon as the final starts anonymity should stop there.

Indeed, this is my current view on what it should change to, if at all.

There was even less to be 'afraid' of than usual this time because you couldn't really offend anyone with it all being anonymous :lol: Similarly, nobody could see that I was being over confident when I gave Zowie odds of 3/1 and second favourite behind Zoe :P But hey, it was proven to be correct :kink: Well she would have been third if BaNG had voted, but I predicted Ellie to come top 5 anyway iirc along with BC Jean and Annaca (who finished 3rd and 6th, so not too far out!). The only ones that took me massively by surprise were Zarif and Ana Diaz.

I'll happily third this. Seems like a perfect solution. The artist reservation was the biggest pain in the neck ever and really made the whole process so bloated.

Hmm.. I liked the anonymity, but as everyone know my taste in music in the contest is very scandipop, 90% of my entries are from Norway.. everyone will know what entry Tinnmark sent.. so for me I would rather go back to the way it was.
It was a danish language entry, still not far, though.

I would be in favour of getting rid of the anonymity but keeping the confirmation process as it was this time around, since it was so much more efficient. That said I don't really understand why first come first served can't just be done out in the open. Nevertheless it's pretty much what others have suggested.

Also, whilst I'd be in favour of anonymity during confirmation until the final, I dot think individual entrants should be

peanalised for discussing what they've sent / are thinking of sending before this point should they choose to. Obviously nothing would be "official" until the host posts the final list but it could be up to the individual whether or not they want to disclose anything before then.

I liked it, I don't think it makes a large amount of difference activity wise if it's not anonymous.

I didn't notice very much of a difference anyway, just the added bonus of being surprised when I found out such and such a country sent a certain song.

The only thing I didn't like was during the results the scoreboard had the fake country names until the final scoreboard which made it a little confusing to know who was who.

So I'm for anonymity. If it was gone though it wouldn't be the end of the world.

edit: gooddelta I'm pretty sure in previous contests there have been only been about 3-4 odds.....not that much a difference.

Yes. I'm very much in favour of keeping things on the down-low until confirmation closes and the final begins, then for us to continue as we used to.

I think confirmation was much smoother without the reservation thread and the mass rush to confirm/reserve in a thread. Doing it by PM was far cleaner and easier and keeping the songs under wraps until the final thread removed the slight advantage an earlier confirmer had

That said I don't really understand why first come first served can't just be done out in the open.

It'll have to be behind closed doors so the mods can reject confirmations without being ganged up on by the BJ masses.

That was purely a time saving measure.

I like how anonymity removes any bias voting, but it does replace a few forms of discussion with speculation.

The bias voting bollocks was very heavily disproved with most countries voting for the countries they usually vote for despite not knowing who was who.

It's true votes were similar, they were for me, as everyone will vote for a genre of music that usually appeals to them.

I do feel people knowing who sent could influence the way you rate a song with or without intention. The changes may only be subtle, but this system does reassure everyone their song has had equal consideration to the next.

Knowing the sender has it's advantage though - the variety of topics and discussions it creates. ;]

Good = yes

Bad = no

Necessary = no

It certainly adds an interesting element and I would like it to be kept but then again, I'm not that active posting-wise anyway so I didn't mind the lower activity too much. I can see how it is a bad thing for the more active people here so I would be fine with it either way.

It's not that I'm "afraid" of doing the odds, or offending anyone in the process etc, it's just that I don't know how to do them. I did try to guess who is who this time, and I would've predicted it there were a predictas thread, but I don't know anything on how to do odds, and that might be the reason why some people don't do them. :unsure:

Fair enough. It's just ordering them all in probability of winning from highest chance to least chance. Then the number on the left is the chance of it happening. So 2/1 is one in every two contests, 1000/1 is one in every thousand contests, 6/4 is four in every six contests etc...it's all based on probability of course as nobody actually knows what's going to happen - it's educated guesswork.
