And the least quantity of these #1s is 2008 where we only had Mint Royale, thanks to that dancing kid winning Britain's Got Talent. And now, here is some additional info. These songs spent 3 or less weeks in the top-10 and 10 or less weeks in the top-75 which are total non-number ones: Artist Song ChartRun {Peak} Wks in the top-10 Manic Street Preachers The Masses Against The Classes {1}-4-20-39-57-73-70R(5)->7 2 Westlife My Love {1}-2-9-14-19-21-17-27-38-59->10 3 A1 Same Old Brand New You {1}-8-17-25-30-38-38-32-39-57->10 2 George Harrison My Sweet Lord {2002} {1}-4-8-15-30-43-51-65-58-70->10 3 Busted You Said No {1}-4-9-14-19-25-33-41-55-65->10 3 Kylie Minogue Slow {1}-4-12-17-26-45-56-53-58-61->10 2 Sam And Mark With A Little Help From My Friends/Measure Of A Man {1}-2-13-25-42-49-73-74-67-67->10 2 Busted Who's David {1}-4-18-35-38-35-36-43-55-69->10 2 Robbie Williams Radio {1}-3-9-17-30-37-52-66->8 3 Ja Rule Featuring R Kelly And Ashanti Wonderful {1}-6-11-21-33-48-63-73-73-72->10 2 U2 Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own {1}-7-18-27-35-39-56-60-60R(2)->9 2 McFly Don't Stop Me Now/Please Please {1}-6-12-24-40-56-66->7 2 McFly Star Girl {1}-9-19-27-42-62->6 2 Westlife The Rose {1}-3-5-11-21-36-40->7 3 Sugababes Vs Girls Aloud Walk This Way {1}-2-14-24-43-69->6 2 McFly Baby's Coming Back/Transylvania {1}-20-39-59->4 1 Eva Cassidy And Katie Melua What A Wonderful World {1}-2-14-53->4 2 Vanessa Jenkins And Bryn West Featuring Sir Tom Jones And Robin Gibb Barry Islands In The Stream {1}-3-23-51->4 2 The X Factor Finalists 2009 You Are Not Alone {1}-2-5-11-12-29-51->7 3 Rage Against The Machine Killing In The Name {2009 DL} {1}-2-40->3 (+ 4 weeks of the original run) 2 Joe McElderry The Climb 2-{1}-2-15-25-38-50-68->8 3 Helping Haiti Everybody Hurts {1}-1-9-26-42->5 3 Diana Vickers Once {1}-4-8-18-31-44-48-65-75R(6)->9 3 Dizzee Rascal Dirtee Disco {1}-4-12-22-35-41-47-61-62-66->10 2 Shout For England Featuring Dizzee Rascal And James Corden Shout {1}-1-3-15-40-62->6 3 JLS The Club Is Alive {1}-7-9-16-23-32-39-53-63->9 3 Cheryl Cole Promise This {1}-2-7->3 3 Rihanna Only Girl (In The World) 2-{1}-1->3 3 Of course Rihanna will be excluded. She will disappear from the list since next week and Cheryl will probably be excluded from "non-number ones" list as she could score more than 10 weeks in the top-75. And these three songs despite being only 3 or 2 weeks in the top-10 managed to get 20 or more weeks in the top-75, so they aren't really non-number ones: Madonna Music {1}-2-5-11-14-13-23-33-36-28-31-29-33-49-50-50-55-56-48-33-36-47-63->23 3 Will Young Light My Fire {1}-1-6-14-17-24-32-32-38-40-48-42-50-57-69-71-61R(2)-44-47-44->20 3 Stereophonics Dakota {1}-4-12-22-29-34-34-31-35-42-44-54-61-55-57-55-57R(3)-74-66R(25)-74->20 2 We also have one entry who fell out straight out of top-10 after being at #1 for one week: McFly Baby's Coming Back/Transylvania {1}-20-39-59->4 1 Ouch! Anyway, without all the boy-bands this list would look a lot, a lot thiner! You can't re-write the history though. N.B. I combined original runs with re-releases, re-charts etc.! That's why you can't find Elvis in the chart.
November 14, 201014 yr Wow at Xtina 'Beautiful' and Kylie 'Spinning Around' and many more "massive" songs spending only 2/3 weeks in the Top 10. :o Edited November 14, 201014 yr by FM11
November 14, 201014 yr It's interesting though, because some of those #1s with bad chart runs seem really big now, all these years later.
November 14, 201014 yr While I was doing my research for this week's commentary I looked at Take That's record. Their 11 number ones spent 28 weeks at the top of the chart, 63 weeks in the top ten and 110 weeks in the top 40. However that is distorted by the fact that Patience and Shine both spent at least 20 weeks in the top 40. Without them that is nine number ones with a total of 22 weeks at number one and 62 weeks in the top 40 (an average of just under seven weeks each). Patience and Shine are the only TT number ones to spend more than ten weeks on the top 40.
November 14, 201014 yr Ironically, Take That's best performing UK Hit, (longest in the Chart), never got to No.1. It is 'Rule The World' - a No.2 Hit, & 72 Weeks in the Top 75.

November 15, 201014 yr By the way, Arrs, I just noticed you missed McFly in 2005 with "I'll Be Ok" - 2 weeks top 10 and only 9 weeks top 75 (so also qualifies for your other list). Very interesting. Some really awful chart runs. No one can't beat Mcfly and Westlife  Actually, technically the worst is U2 if we're talking percentage-wise in relation to sheer volume... only A1, Chemical Brothers, Gary Barlow and Manic Street Preachers have a worst percentage while appearing here more than once (all have 100%, but they only have two number ones anyway, so U2's % is arguably worse - the only U2 #1 not listed here is Take Me To The Clouds Above, which was actually just a credited sample - so really their percentage is 100%!!). The worst offenders... with at least half their number ones appearing on these lists (only acts who appear here more than once): A1 = 2/2 (100%) Gary Barlow = 2/2 (100%) Manic Street Preachers = 2/2 (100%) The Chemical Brothers = 2/2 (100%) U2 = 6/7 (85.71%) [includes "Desire" in 1988 - 3 weeks top 10] Busted = 3/4 (75.00%) Geri Halliwell = 3/4 (75.00%) Oasis = 6/8 (75.00%) Blue = 2/3 (66.67%) JLS = 2/3 (66.67%) McFly = 5/8 (62.50%) Westlife = 7/14 (50.00%) p.s. The post above is a bit of a MESS. Soz. I'm fucking tired man. Edited November 15, 201014 yr by superbossanova

No, it just dropped to #20, same as McFly And they don't count because they have more weeks in the top 10 on their original release Edited November 15, 201014 yr by Bray

November 15, 201014 yr Arrs has already said the re-release is combined on the original releases: N.B. I combined original runs with re-releases, re-charts etc.! That's why you can't find Elvis in the chart. Edited November 15, 201014 yr by FM11
November 15, 201014 yr They has? Your standards are slipping. Oi, I wrote that early in the morning :( I got confused halfway through as to whether I was referring to all 3 Elvis songs or just 'One Night' :P
November 15, 201014 yr Interesting these all seem to be songs that just have been lost in time- very few of these have become classics- some of 2000's 'non-number 1s' like Beautiful Day and Spinning Around are still held in quite high regard yet they didnt have great chart runs, since then, songs that fall quickly arent really remembered well When The Sun Goes Down, Dakota, Beautiful and Are You Ready For Love are the only other ones post 2000 that are still thought of highly now I think- I doubt any of 2010's non-number 1s will be remembered in a year Edited November 15, 201014 yr by chart wizard
