You only reason why I compared them is becuase they are both from the same group and have both released solo albums so obv people will compare them.

Yes but the whole "why Cheryl is having success and Nicola hasn't ?!?!" conversation is pointless. The reasons are quite obvious and anyway one flopping isn't linked in any way to the other one having success.

Cheryl was successful because she was extremely popular and her music was perfectly fitting with the market, and she had killer singles.

Nicola isn't popular among "the masses" and her music doesn't seem to please the radio programmers. I'd love Nicola to be number 1 for weeks, but it's just not happening, so no need to blame Cheryl, Nadine, Sarah, or any other person related to Nicola.

Until 'The Flood' killed her 2nd album!

Hahahahahaha - that's enough.

Poor Kimberley! Couldn't even be name-dropped! :(

Anyway, my roommate kept going on how ridiculous Nicola is, that she's annoying and ugly, and that her music is crap blah blah blah. I went to see her live at G-A-Y and kept hyping her around the house. He downloaded her album and said it was actually very good, not that commercial after all.

I'm gonna buy the physical to celebrate! :D

Music Week seem to think that 'I' is to be the next single! Don't know if that was posted here yet but it's part of their playlist section this week and says;

'A cooler moment from her debut solo album, this Metronomy production (also co-written by Joseph Mount) is one of two such tie-ups on the album. (Single, date TBC)
I think 'I' would be much better served with a less grating vocal.

This IS part of the charm of the song. If it was for you you'd edit all the songs down and make them as dull and uninteresting as possible. :(

Finally here's my rate :)

So...14 today. Not TOO bad a drop but I think it'll be out of the top 20 by Sunday sadly. :(
If its still top 10 on itunes surely it will stay a bit more stable now. Please be top 20 come Sunday!

It's all because of Cheryl's profile why she gets success and playlisted etc, her songs sound like recycled rejected demos ultimately (well, most of them).

Nicola's album is great as expected, strangely I find the first two and the last two to be the best points of the album, 'Fish Out Of Water' is the only really bad track and I'd rather it was replaced with 'Disco, Blisters And A Comedown'. I think it'll be about #23/#24 by Sunday but it doesn't matter, the true quality shines through and that's what's important here.

As long as it charts higher than the two singles I'll be relatively happy.

In all fairness I never even thought she would ever release an album, and even when they announced it I thought something would go wrong and with both singles pretty much flopping I thought there was a chance they could scrap it, so I'm just over the moon I actually have a Nicola album in my collection, and the fact that it is amazing is just a bonus.

THIS. Seriously, 5 years ago, who thought we would ever be able to say the sentence "Nicola Roberts has a solo album out"?

Anyway, back UP in today's midweeks to #13 :cheer:

Fantastic album start to finish. Even if it doesn't chart or sell well she can always be proud of it and we will always have a great pop album that thought and effort was put into which is rare in these times.

Got my copy throught the post this morning - loving the album booklet.

The 'signature' on the poster is a bit odd though...can't tell if it's actually meant to be her name or if she's written something?

It's a quirky little album and definitely the most surprising release of the year. Who would have thought? Girls Aloud have always been a bit rubbish and Cheryl, well...
