Im very glad Ellie G is number 1 and all- its just a shame that its not with an original song as they were brilliant :(

 

I agree, I think 'The Writer' by far Ellie's best single she's released - beautiful ballad. Yet that only managed to get to no. 19 in the UK. I suppose 'Your Song' being a new single not already on the album helps. I do like Ellie's version of 'Your Song' actually.

I can see Olly doing what Shayne did... The single doesn't seem to be anywhere - in fact radio stations are still playing PDLMG and seem to be bypassing his new single.

 

 

What's My Name #11, should be top 10 soon easily going past Mcfly & Alexis Jordan. Hopefully past Black Eyed Peas too! I'd hope for #5!

 

I see Olly's video quite a fair bit on TV, he will do well with it. His album is out the week after too which will also do well i predict, going to outshine Joe by miles.

I think because Olly's still fresh in people's minds it will perform reasonably well (in the lower half of the top ten), especially if he's appearing on The X Factor.

Ellie #4 but #1 on itunes since this morning and creating a big lead as the day goes on so i think its possible she could be #2 even with TT's physical copies, which cant be that big as majority of fans are buying the album.

2 entries in the top 10 on iTunes, if it does happen. The only other artists I can think of that have done that this year are Tinie Tempah, Eminem, Alicia Keys, Glee Cast, David Guetta, Katy Perry, Cee-Lo Green.

 

Dizzee Rascal, Pitbull, Bruno Mars and Florence + the Machine might've managed it too. I can't remember well enough.

 

Glee Cast managed 3 at once too, I remember.

Would we really expect Cheryl to choose a different single just because it shares its title with a different song that's popular atm? I mean, single choices are too important to change like that. Imagine Lady Gaga decided to release Love Game instead of Poker Face, or Jason Derulo decided to release Love Hangover instead of Ridin' Solo, or the Black Eyed Peas decided to release Missing You instead of I Gotta Feeling, or Eminem decided to release No Love instead of Love the Way You Lie, or Rihanna decided to release Hard instead of Rude Boy. :kink:

 

You get the gist. Singles are just too important. If it happens to share a name with another popular song, that is annoying, but it's just too important for an artist to risk release a flop single instead of one that could become a massive smash. The single you choose could potentially make the difference between whether you're popular for another 5 years, or whether you get dropped by your label.
