I think Ellie might snatch a week at official number 1 in the next few weeks. Although XF will be top next week, her only major competition on the 29th is Nicole Scherzinger, and even if she gets an XF slot, I can see Poison being one of those songs which start to fall on iTunes midweek and she won't be a big physical seller so I think Ellie may be her that week!

Knew she'd gain a massive lead, and i still believe she'll sell so many tonight and all day tomorrow that she will either be #3 with a few copies behind Take That or #2..

i actually think she has a chance of beating the xfactor nonsense next week!!

 

last years xfactor single sold 193k, it will hopefully decrease this year but you never know!!!

 

also westlifes single last year sold 14k physical cds,maybe be less than that this year tho!!

Yeah wouldnt make a difference. Physicals are pretty irrelevant now to most artists (especially new ones)

Yea, I doubt it would make a difference, if you look at the main chart and the download only chart, they're more or less identical these days

 

I'm not really a fan of elton but his version of this song is much better than ellie goulding, and the version from moulin rouge is even better.

 

Really surprised how well it's doing but good on her i guess.

Actually gobsmacked at how well Ellie Goulding is doing. JLS will easily be #1 on Sunday but looks there's a battle between Ellie and Take That for the no. 2 spot. I wonder what type of sales the top 3 will be looking at for the week.

I can't imagine S&M being top 40, although I'm amazed it's doing so well. Perhaps top 50. Album tracks tend to decline in sales after 3 or 4 days (unless they go top 10), but S&M is staying quite steady!

 

I remember Rihanna almost had 4 songs in the top 40 earlier this year. Russian Roulette made it, but Stranded, Hard and Rude Boy all charted between #41 and #45 that week. It was so frustrating! grrrr. Take a Bow by Glee Cast charted that same week too, so if those other 3 Rihanna tracks made it, there would've been 5 Rihanna songs between #31 and #40!!

 

And we would've had 4 Rihanna songs top 40 if Love the Way You Lie II was available for download... :( Heck, there'd probably be 3 Rihanna songs in the iTunes top 10 right now.
