Price Tag will be a big top three single I reckon, and Who You Are could be a hit. I'm seeing success levels equivalent to La Roux for Jessie...

Price Tag should get to #1 fairly easily IMO unless there's something else really big around at the time of its release
ugh... worst winner of Sound of.... full stop.

Can't believe this girl won. just watched the video clip on BBC

Talk about dumbing down this award..

She looks dreadful, and sounds painful.

meh, I've not been overly impressed by what I've seen of her so far tbh -_- however, I think she could be very successful- DILAD is heading for top 5 next week, and Price Tag could get number 1- so yeah I agree that she could be this years La Roux
Yawwwwn, haters to the left please. Jessie J is an amazing winner, 'Price Tag' will be huge and 'Who You Are' is another 9/10 moment too.
Best winner in a long time. The only ick choice I have to say is Vaccines in the top3, whatever.

Quel surprise. To be fair, I've been underwhelmed by what I've heard so far - no urgency to it at all, I'll be surprised if they do much better than Delphic.

I'd like to think Wretch 32 will do well, but he'll stick to his roots, and with 13 year old girls dictating the charts he won't see Tinie/Tinchy levels of success. Shame really, I've been a fan for years. Wretchrospective is amazing. Real talent as opposed to the majority of popcorn music by artists nowadays.

It's funny you say that, because it was my 13 year-old sister that introduced me to Wretch 32.

I also posted it about this here, if you don't believe me: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=3377493

So yes, some 13 year-old girls do like Wretch 32. Traktor is going to be huge I think. :)

13 year old girls are hardly Tinie Tempah's target market...

I was hoping Wretch 32 would be Top 5, and I actually thought he would with BBC latching onto the Tinie Tempah-esque genre hype. 'Traktor' should do quite well regardless, I think - or at least it should.

Besides those that have been mentioned (and yes please Caro, Tove and Zowie, but as if :drama:)

(Hannah) Yadi

Ed Sheeran

Yasmin - although her co-credited top 20 hit with Devlin may rule her out, and she's on a dance label - notorious for getting nowhere on 'Sound of' lists

Starsmith

New EP/album #2 on iTunes at the moment, only behind Rihanna. Not bad for a complete unknown eh! BBC Sound of 2011 may have missed him off their list but don't be surprised if he's one of those who slipped under the radar. He can surely only get bigger with the fanbase he's amassed so far without any major label support or notable hype.

Gingers FTW :w00t:

Has he not got a reasonable following because of the crowd he's with?

He's massive mates with Example.

Basically, yes. And Wretch 32, Devlin, Wiley and the rest of them.

Obviously the names are helping him to success with this one but how long before he gets signed himself to a major, he seems to have a massively growing fanbase. I've been following the response to each EP he's released and it gets FAR bigger each time. Still surprised he didn't even get a place in the top 15 but as I mentioned in the thread about him in the R&B forum, I'm not sure if only acts signed to major labels are eligible for this?

I was right! :D Although not with Yadi and Starsmith clearly :o

I was perplexed that Ed wasn't on the Sound of 2011 list, especially seeing as half of the list were always going to be huge flops (and they have been from what we've seen in the first half of the year). Ed's fanbase has been growing for years and it seemed relatively likely to me that he'd breakout at some point this year.

Really only Jessie has lived up to the hype thus far...mind you there haven't been many new acts breaking out from anywhere this year.
