i get this forum is full of gay guys and it is the type of music they stan over, but i really don't think it is any good.

I don't think we need such generalisations, please.

I am gay and I am not one of 'those' that 'stans' over things like this. Believe it or not, gay people are as diverse as straight people

What do people mean by 'doing well here' and about buzzjack in general? This forum is full of so many different opinions there isnt one song or artist that is liked by everyone. WTF some of you people are mad. :coffee:

Poison is basically a lesser Bad Romance, which is no bad thing. I definitely see it as a more forward thinking mainstream pop song (in relation to the other garbage they play on the radio). You really can't compare it to something as horrific as The Saturdays or Cheryl Cole. Saying that, anyone could have sung it. The production is really what carries it. Obviously it's nothing genius but it's easily one of the first songs of that genre I've liked this year. Bad Romance and Robyn being the only others.

Uh. I'm sticking up for Nicole Scherzinger... Stranger things have happened?

Totally agree. This is certainly better than my reply to the poster lol

Because it's the majority opinion of the site. Just look at pretty much the results of any competition here! Of course not everyone is going to fit that but essentially pop music sung by females is by far the most liked type of music. Which is not necessarily a bad thing but it does get boring with all The Saturdays loons on this site (who really are no better than CLEA or any other 10th rate girl group of the last decade, but have been thrusted into the spotlight as our premier girl group  due to the dire states of Sugababes and Girls Aloud now. Still at least they're not as bad as Atomic Kitten!)

And everyone is way overreacting to that poster anyway, lol. It's not offensive to say a lot of gay people like female-led pop music - it's mainly true? Of course like on this site there are exceptions, but honestly...

The was more the use of the term 'they' that annoyed me - that and the sweeping generalisation about gay people :P

How do you know its mainly true? Have you asked a large majority of the gay community this question?

It pisses me off that people generalise about the gay community. Just because I like Kylie it doesnt mean I like all female led pop music. My taste is far more varied than that

11. Poison (New Main Version) - Nicole Scherzinger

31. Take Over Control (UK Radio Edit) [feat. Eva Simons] - Afrojack

48. Limit to Your Love - James Blake

69. Radio - Alesha Dixon

88. Who's That Chick? (feat. Rihanna) - David Guetta & Rihanna

There's enough evidence to suggest it. You are way overreacting. Nobody said anything about liking all female-led pop music, at least not me. But it's certainly true that it's a popular type of music among gay people. Heck, the record companies are certainly aware of it - as many of them court the gay market. And just look at the type of acts who usually appear at night clubs like G-A-Y, for god's sake.

Gay icons poll carried out by OnePoll last year of 5000 people:

http://www.onepoll.com/press-archive/elton-the-icon

Lastfm group for gay/bisexual people, with over 3000 members:

http://www.last.fm/group/G-A-Y

So to me there's enough evidence to suggest that it is the MAJORITY opinion among gay men. And I'm gay myself too, by the way. Difference between me and you is I don't get so easily offended over this crap

So gay people like mainly female acts.

Str8 males like rock

Str8 girls like boy bands

Black like rap

Lesbians like pink

So this must all be true then.

Absolutely right!!!

Poison is good, but I would MUCH prefer Ellie to get a week there- especially as it will be my birthday number 1, which I would love :(

I really hope that Willow Smith song, dont get it or the hype at all

Absolutely right!!!

I dont think so one little bit. Each person is difffernt and should no be defined by there sexual preference or gender to be put in a certain musical taste

I was joking. Though I would argue that the straight females = boy bands one is also true, or at least ones under, let's say, 18.

Anyway, this clearly isn't getting anywhere and we've veered way off topic. Perhaps it's time to move on before we get told off :D

Very true. I love I-Tunes. There we go lol

am i the only one who thinks XFF will keep number 1 for a 2nd week?

they are obviously gonna push tonight that it is number 1 on the results show, they were pushing the cd single like mad on last nights show to. also it has a video now so will be played on all the video count down top 40 as number 1.

i think cd sales will keep it on top next week with no real top new songs out. ellie will be number 2.

also am i the only one who thinks poison by nicole sounds like a saturdays b-side, and that is not a compliment. i get this forum is full of gay guys and it is the type of music they stan over, but i really don't think it is any good.

Doubt it, towards the end of the week the updates were showing Ellie making bigger gains than XFF. Wednesday to thursday update for example XFF only went from 96.2k to 100k. Not sure the CD sales are going to make much difference tbh.

I don't think you're getting the point of what the poster was trying to say.

The general population is about 50% male, and 50% female (I think there's sligthly more females, but not a huge amount).

If there was absolutely no correlation between between gender and musical preference, then why are like 90% of JLS fans female?

He wasn't saying "All gay males only like pop music with female vocals", he was saying "In general, gay males seem to prefer pop music to certain other genres". There is evidence to support this. This very forum for one.

I wouldn't be offended if someone said "In general, straight teenage males seem to prefer rock music to RnB". I'm a straight teenage male, and I HATE rock music, but I'm very well aware that I'm a bit of exception. When I was at school, I was given a hard time by a few people for liking Rihanna. Spending every day around hundreds of teenagers who talk about music all the time, it was clear as day that there was a large degree of difference in musical preference between the genders. Whether there's biological reasons for this, or whether it's cultural, I do not know, but it could not have been more obvious that there was a difference.

Just because somebody has noticed that the average gay male seems to prefer pop music to the average straight male, it does not mean they're homophobic. Likewize, if somebody observes that the average straight male seems to prefer electronica to the average gay male, it does not mean they're heterophobic.
