December 4, 201014 yr Cher is going to attempt to sing it on the X Factor - so will probably get a late surge. Here's hoping. I wanted it in the top 40 until 2011, but it fell quite quickly once it left the top 10. I've got to love Cher. She's done Jay-Z twice and Eminem twice now. :D No wonder so many of the viewers hate her. I think it annoys them that she's performing songs like Mockingbird and Hard Knock Life when those people were telling kids all those years ago that the songs wouldn't be remembered and stand the test of time. :) People probably don't like to be proved wrong like that. December 4, 201014 yr But despite "MILLIONS" of anti-X Factor people in the country, 500,000 bought the Rage song with a facebook campaign of 1 million people "liked". As of yet, there isn't a campaign this year that has took that amount of likes, more there's loads of campaigns with the million separated between them. If people don't unite behind one song - it's likely the X Factor will get it this year as there's like a campaign in itself. It's a bit like the "get Wagner though" campaign - when I heard about it this time last week, I thought there was gonna be over 500,000 on the facebook page - it was barely 40,000 - and of course not enough to save Wagner. wagner was never going to get into the final 2 weeks - the show is a fix - just like jedward last year they have him on the show for as long as possible in order to keep the viewers and people talking in the media then they are out when it gets serious. as for the xmas no1 theres no way coldplay will sell as much as 400k on xmas week, not even classics like slade did that. it will hopefully do well to sell enough to be no1 next week for a week(think i may buy it on sunday so it will count for next weeks chart). the campaigns should just give up this year they will just clutter the top 20 and disappear without a trace the following week wout being no1!!
December 4, 201014 yr Glee Cast are performing on Sunday aswell, I think (and even though I don't watch Glee, I can't wait!!!!). Also, Eminem and Rihanna are back up to #37, but I think they're finally going to fall out of the top 40 next week. :( they are at no45 in the mids so it will be out this week unfort, iknew it would get lost in the xmas rush. ahh no are they??so their album will be top 10 next week and one of their pointless covers in the singles chart.lets hope coldplay can get the no1 next week before the xfactor single makes the xmas chart the borefest it usually is.....whats the winners song this year?
December 4, 201014 yr wagner was never going to get into the final 2 weeks - the show is a fix - just like jedward last year they have him on the show for as long as possible in order to keep the viewers and people talking in the media then they are out when it gets serious. At the end of the day, there's only a certain extent to which they can fix it. The judges can attempt to persuade viewers to vote for people, but at the end of the day, if someone ends up in the bottom 2 in the voting, that's it. People must've been voting for Wagner all this time. Seriously, it's no laughing matter, people are paying to vote on the show, and there'd be uproar if it turned out the voting was fixed (and if it was, I'm sure it'd be out in the open now). It's the sort of thing that would make international news, and it'd be "the scandel" that people wanted to make sure never happened again. They can influence the votes, by changing the order the contestents perform in, by the song they give the contestents to sing. And if the judges are nasty to a contestent, they get more votes, etc. So they can influence it, but there's NO way Simon would see Wagner at the bottom of the votes, and then be like "Oh, I want him to stay another week, let's put Katie in the bottom 2 instead". That would be THE end for the show. There'd be outcry in the media and the public, and the X Factor would be made to refund all the voters, sort of like what happened on Big Brother when they cancelled evictions. Remember what happened when Laura was in the bottom 2 a few years ago. And that wasn't even fixed! Imagine if it actually was! Edited December 4, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob

December 4, 201014 yr Matt, if he had a great voice would steal the show.. Mary is boring Looking forword to cher tonight :)
December 4, 201014 yr I predict alot of these will rocket up after tonight's show. A lot of current songs chosen. Edited December 4, 201014 yr by Peace
December 4, 201014 yr how do you actually know it isnt fixed though? If TV shows as big as the X Factor fix their votes, then it will DEFINITELY get leaked to the public, especially after 7 years. I can't believe there's people out there that actually believe Simon Cowell looks at the voting list, and then goes "No, I don't like that; pretend so-and-so is in the bottom two". There's procedures and all-sorts to prevent this happening. It's illegal, and if the X Factor was fixed, it would be one of the biggest scandels in recent time. Yes, sure, I think judges will have their favourites, and they might want certain people to last longer, to increase the ratings and media interest, but there's NO way they can get away with changing the public's voting figures. In the first few weeks of the show, however, they put the bottom 2 in the voting in a sing-off, so the judges can save the controversial contestents for a couple of extra weeks if they want to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_televisi...one-in_scandals I'm almost 100% sure we'd know about it if the voting figures were changed to suit what Simon Cowell wants. Especially with the massive anti-X Factor movement in the country, lots of people would love it if the X Factor was ignoring the public's votes. Edited December 4, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob
December 4, 201014 yr Well, at least she tries!! I'd like to see Mary and Rebecca doing Jay-Z songs. Afterall, Cher's had to go way out of her comfort zone. I mean, she had to do a ballad from 40 years ago (but she did well, and got it top 10 on iTunes :D). If Cher has to do a ballad that came out when she was like -20 years old, then I think it's only fair that Mary does a Dizzee Rascal song. :D  Umm, Stay is from 1992, lol. As for Cher, she needs to write her own raps if she wants any credibility. Even I could perform other people's raps competently and I'm not about to be the next sensation. Personally pretty much all of the more serious "hip hop heads" I've seen think she's a massive joke

Personally pretty much all of the more serious "hip hop heads" I've seen think she's a massive joke  But nobody else is expected to write their own songs on the show (although I would love it if they did). I think that's unfair to be honest, and all the people that hate Cher are not going to suddenly like her because she wrote her own rap verse. All that'll happen is they'll try and find a rap verse from a previous song that uses similar lyrics to what Cher came up with, and claim she'd copy it and/or they'll just say "That was a really bad rap verse, even I could've done better". Sorry about the Stay song. XD I was in the womb when it was popular, but from hearing it this year, it sounds absolutely ancient. :D

She IS unique for The X Factor - there's never been another rapper on the show. So I think she should have been treated a little differently and been allowed to have written her own rap verse or something, and then sing the hook or whatever. I just wonder what she's going to do after the show. I think it's going to be interesting to see. I don't even know if she can write her own raps (perhaps she has asked but been rejected, who knows?)... is she going to have ghost writers/co-writers write all her raps for her? The thing is that in the rap industry any rapper who wants to be respected has to write their own raps (although you could argue that she'd never be respected even if she did because of the X Factor connection, but that's another matter). And a lot of rappers don't really want it to be known when they do use other writers because it's just not respected at all - unlike in the pop industry where nobody even cares. I mean, it's common knowledge that Dr Dre has had various people write his raps in his career but he's an absolute LEGENDARY producer so he can just about get away with it, as it's not his main field... And I don't think Stay sounds ancient :heehee: Certainly not like a song from 40 years ago anyway! Actually, compared to most stuff from 1992 it sounds fresh. December 4, 201014 yr There's MILLIONS of anti-X Factor people in the country. Infact, last year, a lot of people who watched the show even bought the Rage song, as they didn't like Joe. That's plenty of people. Plus, like last year, the midweeks and the sales will be reported in the news everyday, so if X Factor are in the lead initially, all the people who hate X Factor/Simon Cowell/pop music/the winner will buy the song with the closest chance of beating it, even if they don't like the song. They're that desperate. I just hope a rock song doesn't win. Yes we get it guys, pop music without swearwords in that doesn't hurt your ears sucks. Yes, we get it, we're all actually brainwashed by Simon Cowell into liking pop music. Yes, we get it, the only good songs in existence need to have male vocalists screaming and need to heavily feature guitars. Not all rock songs are swearing and screaming, just as not all pop songs are ballads with a choir and a key change at the end - exactly what X Factor was like with ALL its previous winner's singles. That's the point - it was the SAME type of single EVERY year, and every year it coasted to the top spot, due to the stranglehold that the show has on the British public and the retailers. The race for Xmas No.1 was always exciting and unpredictable before X Factor came along, so why should one show take away that because of it being the only single available in supermarkets and getting mainstream exposure that week?

Fixing a show isn't necessarily just about rigging the votes. Cowell - presumably - gets to choose the theme for each week. Therefore, he can choose a theme which will suit his favoured contestants and / or be very difficult for those he doesn't like. That's one of the reaons I despise the show so much. I really couldn't care less if my favourite bands / singers can't do rap or R 'n' B or whatever. I'm sure most Cheryl fans don't care that she'd probably be hopeless at doing a rock 'n' roll standard. I'd much rather see a show that allows performers to perform any song they want in any style they want. And that doesn't mean saing they're going to do Run as performed by Leona Lewis. It would mean Herbert Bodgkins performing Run in the style of Herbert Bodgkins.
December 4, 201014 yr I really hope One Direction singing 'Only Girl (In The World) will boost it and make it stay in the top 10 even longer ^_^ EDIT: hopefully 'LTWYL' will also get a big boost :D Edited December 4, 201014 yr by WillR0713

I think they can attempt to influence voting through other ways, like through song choices and things. Just the people accusing the show of changing the voting figures are a bit extreme and unrealistic. I just wonder what she's going to do after the show. I think it's going to be interesting to see. I agree with basically all of this, and I think you're completely right. It's going to be difficult for Cher to fit in with the hip hop community (well, she might be okay in UK hip hop, people like Tinie Tempah and Tinchy Stryder have said they like her, I think). To be honest, I can see Cher doing pop/RnB with rap verses, rather than hip hop songs, if you know what I mean. But I've been so delighted to see someone like her on the show. But she's SO hated at the same time. :( It's actually quite frightening, and there's people who will clearly go to desperate measures to stop her having any success, so it might be difficult for her. And two Rihanna songs on X Factor today! I just wish Love the Way You Lie II could be cherry-picked. :(
December 4, 201014 yr Influencing is different to fixing. Sort of like bending the rules then breaking them. Perfect example happened tonight actually - Bookies are expecting Mary out tomorrow night. Then she goes and blubs on stage - effectively she could have influenced the vote all by herself

Then she goes and blubs on stage - effectively she could have influenced the vote all by herself Yeah, the show being fixed is the sort of thing you can be taken to court for. It's a serious thing. Tonight we saw Simon Cowell plead with the viewers to vote for One Direction (he wasn't even hiding it, he was quite outright about it). That's influencing the vote, and Simon clearly wants them in the final, but at the end of the day, if they get the least votes, they WILL go out. Since the voting "scandel" in series 5, they've been made to reveal the voting percentages anyway.
