Alexandra up to 15 :-D

Good stuff.

But why is she not doing any television promo this week, it would be awful if her best song broke her string of Top 10 hits.Take That have killed the competition this past month and if they perform on Strictly they will have another week at No 1.

Wow, this is a sad day for music; the day that even 'The Time' can get to #1 due to it being The Black Eyed Peas -_-. Also am sad not to see Jessie rising as she has been rising all week on itunes, hopefully by Sunday! Looking on the positive side, I am very pleased for Alexandra
I think it's her best song too - such a shame it's not looking at top 10 at the moment

It's a lose-lose week as far as the no.1 single is concerned. One of the worst no.1's of the year, whichever one makes it.

To be fair marrb, I can't see how it would benefit her much (as there would only be a marginal sales increase from it), as The X Factor performance is really just about all the promo she needs. Only benefit I could see of additional promo is if it were that promo that provided the slight nudge to get her into the top 10 on iTunes (given that she's so close to top 10 right now), which given the boost she would get from that would be all the promo she needed for the rest of the week.

couldn't agree more :(

even the X Factor song is more bearable than the current top 2, although as much as I hate the BEPs song, I would rather that than Willow

Coldplay look like they'll never make the top 10 now :(

As much as I hate BEP's song, I think I'm glad it's over taken Willow's
Thursday Update Top 40 Only

Singles

1 Black Eyed Peas

2 Willow

BTW, how often since R1 started their midweek chart update, has the Weds #1 been overtaken by Sunday?

I must admit the BEPs have got to #1 on name only, the top 2 tracks are awful, at least its better than Whip My Fanny. The Time is not really radio friendly I must admit I did like it at first, but I got bored with it very quickly. They could have sang the telephone directory, and they still would have got a #1 with it on name only. Waits for next year all they need is a guest spot on the X Factor show, and they have another #1, it seems to be the pattern for them.
I'm happy with top 15 for Alexandra, at least it's not flopped more than I Got You

Well you cant call that yet, might plummet next week and may just peak at #15.

Also I Got You didnt have an X Factor performance, a 'new' version wasnt available and it wasnt a lead single to a deluxe edition of an album like the incredible & massive #1 Run. ^_^

BEP  1 in the albums to #8 so as it stands has climbed 9 places with The X help, and obiously single is #1 unfortunately.

So happy to see Rihanna and Buble so high up the album chart :D

MJ & Akon could be top 10 by Sunday.

I completely agree. Though number 2 is still too high for Willow I think....

Well the X-factor winners single is sure to be No 1 next week so enjoy BEP while you can.Not sure if there is a big enough stop the X-factor getting Christmas No 1 campaign.

I was going to say it looks like McFly are going to stay at #18 but Take That might fall past them, looking at how they're dropping.
Willlllllllloooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

a. The new version is exactly the same

b. I don't think you can compare it with 'Run' as that was a COMPLETE new song for Leona.

c. 'I Got You' was the second single off of her album, this is Alexandra's 6th.

Metropolis studios have congratulated Take That on a million sales on twitter. Any details?

If it happened today it puts Progress 2 days ahead of Beautiful World and 6 behind The Circus I think.

BTW I'm not really new. I re-registered for personal reasons. Been reading here for years with occasional posts.

Don't take the bait Davidson :)

Instead I Got You was released at a quieter time, with a cd single release and digital single release. The Silence is also the 5th/6th single already on the original album. In other words; YOU CAN'T COMPARE "I Got You", "The Silence" and "Run" - as they were all released in different situations.

I really hope Better Than Today can somehow stay in the top 30. I guess we'll have to wait until her duet with Taio Cruz is released next year for her to be back in the top 10 again
