Lets face it - it's always unfair when an artist you don't like gets a spot on X Factor and goes up the charts - but when it's an act you do like, well it doesn't matter anyway because of course it would have done brilliantly regardless, duh! :P

So true :P

People are always complaing about everything X Factor related, but when their favourite artist performs on the show and gets a huge boost, everything is fine.

Very happy for Rihanna though! Brilliant performance.

Surfin' Bird now at 19 :D Being only 79p should help as well.

Whatever it charts at it's going to get its highest chart position ever...it briefly appeared at number 50 in 2009, I guess that's when the Family Guy episode was first shown, or a less successful Facebook campaign?

Hope Unfaithful can go top 20 in the charts again, love that song! its #25 atm
I do get you, but despite What's My Name already being a hit, it would have not been #1 on Itunes without the X Factor performance. The same as Meet Me Halfway probably wouldn't have been #1 last year without X Factor - it would have been a big hit.

X Factor has made songs that may not have been hits, be hits - and songs already hits potential #1s - if there wasn't an X Factor single coming out this week - then What's My Name would be certain for a #1 this week

Absolutely agree, although i can't name many songs that weren't going to be hits but became hits after X-Factor (i suppose Whitney would never had that top 5 hit with MDB, neither Michael Buble with Hollywood). But wouldn't be great if new acts (especially UK acts) could get a slot? There are so many good acts that never get the chance to promote their songs in huge shows! Of course, those huge names bring more viewers, but they could somehow give a slot to other acts.

It would be great if they introduce new artists to the audience!

Despite i don't like Rihanna any more, the performance with Matt was really good! That was the Rihanna i used to like!

Unfaithful  #24 :D

The Silence  again to #20  (album  #23)

Happiness #14 really holding up well, good support from TV/Radio.

Christmas Lights  #18 :( Not going to get top 10.

Well i guess the reason newer (UK) acts don't get slots is two-fold. Firstly, they're not gonna be ratings winners - how many people tune in to X Factor to see Rihanna and Xtina last night who might not usually bother? A new act isn't going to pull in the numbers.

And also - because it is the biggest show on UK TV (whether people like it or not, only an England World Cup Final would rival its ratings now), it's right that guest stars should really prove themselves before going on. Obviously there's going to be bias towards its own, but just look at The Wanted - their VT was slightly embarrassing - and they are a new UK act

Wow! S&M back up to #85! :o Hopefully they bring forward the release date for this too.

And Lights by Ellie Goulding is #92! :o I heard it on the radio, and it's quite nice.

And I'm impressed to see Unfaithful is still climbing! :o

Yep, you are right! I know that they want more audience and those big names will bring bigger ratings..but still wouldn't you love if Marina and the Diamonds, The Drums (although not UK but love them), Ellie Goulding, Plan B (oops not a new act) etc. sang instead of (for example) Robbie Williams etc.? Some of the new acts can perform way better than others which are already big! (The Wanted was not a good example though :teresa: )

But it doesn't really matter what we like to see - it's what a general audience wants to see. Most people would say who? to Marina and the Diamonds, proof with my dad just now.

After the success of Your Song, I could see Ellie getting a spot now and I used The Wanted because they are a new UK act that went on the show - fact, whether they a good example of a new act is opinion. Thats what you asked, and thats what they provided

There's rumours Simon Cowell will be making a new TV music show, so theres a chance that could be more broader in who is on

If you buy the X-Factor single, you are supporting the Con Dem rises in tution fees and their savage and brutal cuts. DO NOT BUY this whatever you do.

You what? Christ people are getting childish about the X Factor...

I'd love to know how that person made that connection. It really confuses me

Quite a big jump from being absolutely nowhere the rest of the day. I think iTunes might have had a bit of a sales tracking problem with this song.
