Also, I'm pretty sure Alexandra performed The Silence on TV sometime in 2009, and then it went top 100 in the charts.

She did, it was on Paul O'Grady and it got to #95.

No, it just made #95 in the week of the album's release for no reason

She later performed it on POG but it didn't go top 100 again

All Night Long also got to #98 on cherrypicks alone.

Ah yes. I just checked. It got top 60 on iTunes in October 2009... Just after Bad Boys got #1...

Yet it's 14 months later it gets released. If anything, I'm very impressed it's doing so well, considering how it's practically pre-historic now.

Ah, I see. Still, I can't think of many larger gaps between a song first going on iTunes and getting released as a single.

I know Turn it Up by Pixie Lott was on the Internet back in 2008 I think, and got released in 2010, but that only got put on iTunes in 2009, so it's not too bad.

 My pop bars are REALLY behind, it still shows MJ & Akon at #15 and BEP far behind at #2
Where is Manic Street Preachers new single Some Kind of Nothingness?

Boys & Girls surfaced on MySpace in September 2008 (albeit in a less polished form than the mix released a year later)! Turn It Up appeared a few months after along with an overhaul of her page adding her new branding, image and logo. I've still got the original demo on Youtube actually, uploaded on 16 Sep 08;

It's fair to say that I was completely unaware as to how big she'd go on to be! Her profile had only had a couple of thousand views when I uploaded this video!

I had the demo on iTunes for AGES (it as my 3rd most played song for months!) then my laptop got wiped, I couldn't find the demo again and had the single mix on iTunes instead. Never liked it as much as the demo, though! Thanks for posting it :D
If BEP get number 1 it will be the biggest crime of the year!!! (Besides JLS - TCIA) :P

Woah! That's totally insane! :o I found Turn It Up on the Internet in 2008, but I never had a clue about Boys and Girls.

Except when I found Turn It Up, it was called "The Fall".

I'm gald they renamed it eventually, because "The Fall" has negative connotations as a title, whilst "Turn It Up" is far more positive.

I wonder what other songs somewhere vague on the Internet at the moment could be future #1s...

the BEPs are now number 1 with their main version- in a way I'm glad, even if this is the worst top 2 of the year- I do like the BEPs in general, this is the first song I have hated from them- but I would rather see an act I like in general at number 1, the only thing I've heard about Willow is that she's Will Smith's daughter and this awful song- hence I don't like her currently as an artist

Yay! Go BEPs!!!!!!!!!! Everybody loves you!!! :) I'm so proud of our country at the moment. Thanks to everybody who has downloaded the track in the past 48(?) hours. The BEPS have suffered lots of ridicule, lots of persecution in the past, but they've stood strong, and now they're #1 on iTunes, yet again, where they deserve to be. Love you all so much. Thanks, BEPs, for making my life so happy. I can't think of anybody more deserving to be at #1 on UK iTunes at this moment in time. :) I'm so happy, for the BEPs, for our nation who're loving their song. There's thousands, and thousands, and thousands of songs on iTunes, but it's The Time people are buying the most. The Time is being bough more than ANY OTHER SONG EVERY CREATED at this moment in time. I think this is a testement to how absolutely phenomenal the Black Eyed Peas are. I honestly thought, after Meet Me Halfway, I'd never see them at #1 on UK iTunes ever again, but thank you so much guys for making this possible. They deserve it so much. I've noticed ever since their song has been released, everybody in the country, heck, everybody in the world, has just been so much happier. In these days of mourning and despair, I'm very greatful to the Black Eyed Peas, for making music that uplifts me. Music that makes me happy. Music that makes me laugh. I love them so much, and congratulations on yet another spectacular achievemt. I'm so proud of you BEPs!!!!

No, I'm not crying. Honestly.

How awful BEP are on top

To think her album is 8k away from 700k which she should reach next week as she sold #43 9+ #41 10,500+

im really torn. I really like the BEPs and normally would route for them but their song is just so beyond sh*t lol. Such a tired, lazy effort of a song that really isnt #1 worthy in any way. But "Willow" is only even known cause shes Will Smiths daughter and the song is beyond laughable. Aaarg, I wish Your Song the ONLY #1 worthy song in the top 3 could just somehow squeeze it out!!
