She's always sounded like that. It was just tolerable on some of her great songs like Mercy and Warwick Avenue. With subpar songs she just sounds dreadful.

I didnt really notice until she did that Coke advert, I thought maybe it had been overdubbed by Joe Pasquale.

Rain On Your Parade was when I first really started to notice it but then the Coke advert was just appalling. That really damaged her I think and people began to get annoyed by her voice.

I bought it and it's great, as good as her first one.

Interesting topic. I was only thinking about this after Duffy's 100th attempt at promoting 'Well, Well, Well' (yesterday morning on Daybreak).

Duffy definitely had a unique 60s soul sound to her voice on her debut album - even tracks like 'Rockferry' didn't have that heliumised sound about it.

Like Rain mentioned, it was when 'Rain On Your Parade' was released that I realised how badly she sounded in that track. So some posters think there's hope for Duffy. She really should just brush 'Well, Well, Well' under the carpet and focus on single #2 from this album. If Gwen Stefani could do it (ie; 'Wind It Up' :puke: followed by 'The Sweet Escape' ) then I agree.

Edit; why doesn't the sick smilie have a santa's hat? :(

I totally agree - the first bit of Well Well Well makes me want to slap her. I used to love her voice as well :(

I tried to slap her but now I have a restraining order :naughty:

'Well well well' might be my favourite single of her :kink:

The new album is brillant, different to 'Rockferry' I guess, but I love both equally.

I think she has an amazing voice, I seen her live and every song was note perfect.

She's not everyone's taste though I can understand..

I had a compilation playing yesterday which has Well Well Well on it, little did I realise! I was listening through and that horrendous intro went right through me. She sings so horribly on it. I agree, I loved the likes of Warwick Avenue and Mercy but she seems to be so much more screechy now :(

When she performed it on Strictly, I had to change the channel. There's something unpleasant about her voice on that song.

I don't think it'll be the same situation as Gwen, for a start she was still getting radio support, 'Wind It Up' was actually a hit and the album had at least done really well somewhere. I don't think she can recover from this, it'll go the same way as Dido's last era.
