So you don't have any compassion for Amy's family? I do find it strange how victims these days get no support or sympathy in cases such as these. And this is only one such case. Everybody is more concerned with the rights and feelings of the offender.

Absolute nonsense. You don't have to make a choice. It is perfectly possible to feel compassion for the victim's family while at the same time supporting a person's right to stay in the UK with his children.

Agree 100% with Shelli that this scumbag should be deported on the very next plane. Absolutely disgusting. This country is far too soft and is all about the criminal and not the victim.

If it's "all about the criminal and not the victim" perhaps you could explain why the number of prisoners keeps on hitting new records even though hcrime has been falling for 15 years. Perhaps you could alse explain why the UK prison population is the highest - per head of population - in western Europe. Indeed the only country in the developed world with a higher prison population - per head of population - is the USA. Don't bother looking in the Sun or the Mail for an explanation. I suspect they haven't managed to find the space to print inconvenient facts like that. After all, why take up space with something important like that when some minor celebrity has bought some new shoes?

What kind of life do they get in jail though? TV's, DVD, snooker, pool, IPods, three square meals a day. It should be bread and water and very basic food like cheap meat, veg and potatoes and no TV, ever, in jail, with them in cells apart from meal times. Yes it should be a life of hell in there not a cushy life.

If you honestly believe prison is like that then you need a serious wake up call. I know someone who used to work in a prison, and believe me, it's nothing like that.

Why not give it a try then see if you still think the same?

And if lefe for prisoners should be hell, how is that going to lead to prisoners being better people when they leave jail than they were when they went in? Surely that should be them main objective? Of course there should be an element of punishment and there is. Can prisoners come and go as they please? No, in fact they may well spend the vast majority of the day confined to their cell. Can they communicate freely with whoever they like? No. Do they have unrestricted access to the internet? No. Are they able to see their family whenever they want? No.

Prisoners are still human beings and should be treated as such. Just remember, only a tiny minority of prisoners are inside for the most serious crimes. Most are guilty of lesser crimes such as theft.

I know I'm gonna sound really dumb, but what is it actually like? Because this cushy lifestyle is what is being promoted as 'prison life' in the media.

But the guy had his kids AFTER he'd killed Amy. Even I can see that spawning was his ticket to stay in the country.

Actually ... deportation is too good ... the b*stard should be shot.

Yes go on tell us what it's really like then if you think I'm wrong.

Well let's put it this way, the person I know worked in a young offendors institute and let's say the guards were very familiar with the inmates and it was very heavily covered. There is no cushy lifestyle and the people inside are made the suffer.

It's mainly because it gets misreported and made sensationalist to sell papers. You may have read that "LOADS OF PLASMA TV'S HAVE BEEN ORDERED FOR THE PRISONERS TO SPEND ALL DAY WATCHING IN THEIR CELLS WITH THEIR OWN SKY DISH WITH MOVIES AND SPORTS OMG! " and yes, the Prison Service did order over 1,000 tvs, but they were basic 19" flatscreen (can you even buy TVs which aren't flatscreen any more?) and prisoner's have to pay to watch it, paying with their prison work allowance.

How can he be allowed to stay????

Send the f***er back to Iraq where he belongs, in the middle of a Taliban/American shoot out preferably.

Taliban is AFGHANISTAN, seriously, do you even read a newspaper or watch a news report.....? My advice, DO SO, before you spout rubbish in this forum -_-

HAHA, well said. To Crazy Chris, I would suggest you take a visit to a prison before you leap to conclusions. There's no point asking us if we're sure it's different from what's said in the tabloid media because let's face it, what are the odds The Sun and the Mail are actually right about this?

What a load of old $h!t. Sure, he's a human, he has his rights, but so do the girl's family. As an Iraqi, he should go the prison there, let them deal with him - and we all know his life will be hell there. He carelessly took a young girls life and then had the audacity to think he could leave her dead and escape the law in a country where taxpayers are paying for him to stay there to escape the hardships of his own country. Asylum is a great thing, and according to Wikipedia the population of Iraq is over 31 million, with many of those suffering like he was there. What makes him better than those other 31 million people, allowing him to stay in the UK instead of them? His other convictions of burglary and theft also show that he is no better off in the UK than he is in Iraq and he doesn't contribute to British society whatsoever. His rights to see his children in their country of birth? He gave away that right when he took away that poor man's same rights, and frankly, he should be labelled as an unfit parent anyway and have his kids taken into care. Plenty of Brits who are unfit parents don't have any rights to see their kids and 99 percent of those people didn't kill a 12 year old girl. And I probably will never visit this thread again to argue about it. I've posted my opinion I'll leave you all to discuss it.

Bollocks, we just remember that criminals are actually human as well. Funny that, a lot of countries seem to forget that as such they're entitled to HUMAN RIGHTS same as the rest of us. Not saying that this particularly applies to this case, bu if you're going to make dumb sweeping statements like that you deserve to get shot down.

You're dumber than I took you for. What is a murderer if they're not human, anyway? Not many people are killed by badgers.
