December 18, 201014 yr 'Breakeven' is the most successful song that didn't reach Top 10 on weekly charts.
December 18, 201014 yr Author '3' was also released in October of 2009! And no promo besides a video! That's massive!
December 18, 201014 yr I was thinking NYN may be no. 1, but anyway, totally predictable top 2 tbh, although I love them both
December 19, 201014 yr great to see Taio Cruz charting 2 songs in the year end top 10... i think no british artist has succeeded to do that in a long time....
December 20, 201014 yr Go Ke$ha! Can't wait to hear DJ Earworm's remix of this again! :D Shouldn't be too difficult for him, seeing as Tik Tok and California Gurls sound the same, as do Bad Romance and Telephone, Love the Way You Lie and Airplanes and Dynamite and Break Your Heart. Good point though, I'm still listening to his 2009 one. So nostalgic, and it's only a year ago!
December 22, 201014 yr :cheer: Woo-hoo, go Kingston! Top 50 already, and it has only been available for a couple of hours! What song are you talking about?
December 23, 201014 yr Shouldn't be too difficult for him, seeing as Tik Tok and California Gurls sound the same, as do Bad Romance and Telephone, Love the Way You Lie and Airplanes and Dynamite and Break Your Heart. Good point though, I'm still listening to his 2009 one. So nostalgic, and it's only a year ago! How do Bad Romance and Telephone sound at all similar?
December 23, 201014 yr Does airplay get included in this chart? It's an aggregate of all the chart points from every week in the year, so yeah. If it didn't Need You Now certainly wouldn't have come second...
December 27, 201014 yr How do Bad Romance and Telephone sound at all similar? In the same way that the other songs I mentioned sound similar. I love Airplanes and Love the Way You Lie, but I'm willing to admit that they sound, like, exactly the same. Same with Bad Romance and Telephone. Go on youtube, listen to the instrumentals, and pick out all the layers, and compare them, if you have an ear for that type of thing.
December 28, 201014 yr In the same way that the other songs I mentioned sound similar. Love the Way You Lie and Airplanes sound exactly the same as they use precisely the same chord progression in the chorus. Bad Romance and Telephone, er, don't. They also have a completely different tempo, mood, and emphasis on different areas of instrumentation - not to mention different influences. Bad Romance wears its early 90s Eurohouse influences on its sleeve, Telephone wears its early 00s R&B-pop influences incredibly obviously as well.
December 28, 201014 yr It's an aggregate of all the chart points from every week in the year, so yeah. If it didn't Need You Now certainly wouldn't have come second... Top 3 would've probably been Tik Tok, California Gurls and Hey, Soul Sister..Not sure about the order. I'm still mad at Rihanna. Rude Boy blocked Need You Now from the top spot of the weekly chart by a small margin and the latest country song to hit #1 is still Amazed by Lonestar (2000).
December 28, 201014 yr Will there be a download list released? I was very shocked to see Antebellum and Train in the top 3. Would've though Katy or Em/Riri would've been #1 but I forgot the Billboard's fetish for airplay.
December 29, 201014 yr Tik Tok and Hey, Soul Sister have sold over 5 million overall I believe but not in 2010, California Gurls and Love the Way You Lie have topped 4 million. I hope someone will get his/her hands onto Year-End Sales figures.
December 29, 201014 yr Love the Way You Lie and Airplanes sound exactly the same as they use precisely the same chord progression in the chorus. Bad Romance and Telephone have like exactly (or almost exactly) the same tempo, I'm pretty sure of this. Just count the beats. They're both in a minor key (I'm not sure of this, but from ear they both sound like they're in a minor key). And I'd definitely say Bad Romance is 80's, although it does bear an extremely close resemblance to a certain dance song created a few years ago... I agree that Telephone sounds a bit more modern than Bad Romance, but it's still pretty dated. It sounds like something Britney Spears would've come up with back in the day. To give credit to Gaga though, Telephone at least devaites more from the verse/chorus/bridge structure than the majority of her other songs (and the majority of other pop songs from the past few decades) have used. Also, about Airplanes and Love the Way You Lie, it's more than just a similar chorus, but also a similar melody, similar structue (i.e. both begin and end with the hook, and don't have a bridge). They also both heavily feature piano, guitar and drums. And whilst these aren't so much similarities with the songs, they also both have a Part II, which features even more piano than the original versions, and is darker in mood, lasts longer, is the final track on B.o.B and Rihanna's albums, both have a new Eminem rap verse at the end, and both are album only, both have a bridge, as opposed to the originals, and contain slightly modified versions of Hayley William's and Rihanna's hooks. And all 4 tracks are incredible pieces of music. :) Edited December 29, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob
