Hello all,

After three years, thirty contests, and probably about three hundred arguments as moderator of the Buzzjack Song Contest and de facto ringmaster of the thing, I feel my time's up. I've thought about this for a while, and even though the hugely reduced interest in the contest is probably a good thing with regards to people getting lives, my actions and decisions over the last year in particular have left me unquestionably culpable in the slow death of the contest, and I feel I'm not at all the person who's going to have the ideas, or energy to turn it around. As well as this, the decline in the popularity of the BJSC is very reflective of my personal declining interest in the contest, which was probably my biggest casual commitment at some point a couple of years ago. However, my passion for the contest has fallen back to the mere interested but inactive participant level, and I don't think it's particularly fair on the contest for the guy who has, for good or for worse, basically been in charge of it for the last three years to stay in charge of it when he has to try and make himself care about it. Add that to my growing commitments trying to save the Lounge/Teams and you don't have a particularly successful cocktail for leadership.

I will still be available to the current mods for advice if they need any, and despite my resignation I'm fully confident that Tom and Phil (and Aaron) are more than capable enough of dealing with my departure, along with my successor. I will still be participating in the contest, but not to the degree that I used to. I can only thank you all for being so supportive and helping to make my three years as moderator of this forum probably some of the most enjoyable of my time online.

I would feign surprise but I knew about it already. Still :( And well done for remembering Aaron  We will be discussing recruiting new mods in due course, but for now I think we can handle it.

a BIG thank you for Tyron.

He did the best for this contest and surely replacing him and to find a new mod will be very hard task IMO.

Thanks sincerely,

I've already said my piece  I am sad to see Tyron leave us.

Like Tom said, we will start looking for a new mod in the new year. TBO comes first.

:o

Never saw that coming :???:

Pavel FTW :magic:

Well you were great! A brilliant co-mod with myself in the first peak period of the contest but this mod job really does take the rough with the smooth, and I can completely appreciate why you're standing down.

My interest in the contest has been on a steady decline since Music Everywhere - that's the last entry I was truly excited about sending and hyping up. Yeah I absolutely love the likes of Backseat, A Night Like This, Psycho and Broken Machine but I didn't get the same 'buzz' of them doing well as I did when I was doing well with Robots In Love and Music Everywhere. It's only in the last year or so that I've realised quite how (worryingly) obsessed I was with BJSC between mid 2008-late 2009  My backseat role (pardon the pun :drama:) suits me a lot better! I purely see it as a contest to discover new music now and maybe introduce a few people to something, the competitive element that I used to thrive on isn't appealing to me anymore. Yeah it's nice to do well, but I used to pin my hopes on success circa Mine All Mine through to Music Everywhere and hunt for days and days for THAT song to bring me the smash, whereas now it's more 'oh this is good, it will do, I haven't got time to look for anything else'

Be interesting to see who takes the mod job in Jan!

Wow. Who'd have thought it, eh? But I completely see why you have stepped down. But tbh, you ARE BJSC  I'll always associate you as a mod of this forum, even though you're not

Oh well, I withdrew and the fun began :( :kink:

:o

Never saw that coming :???:

Pavel FTW :magic:

Huh?

Wow :o

I'm rubbish with goodbyes (although you're only leaving the mod seat not the contest itself?).

I was probably involved in some of those arguments. You did a really great job keeping everything together though, couldn't have been easy.

You deserve a medal from typing out the rules/Best of rules alone. :drama:

Say goodbye to the word Unknown :smoke: I hated it and it looked clunky.

BJSC is back as BJSC, but don't think because we killed the word you can enter something that isn't unknown :heehee:

I never liked it either. I have never used the term in connection with this forum IIRC. But that doesn't mean it's a free-for-all.
Yeah i wasn't happy about the BJUSC name as well. 'U' looked like the fifth wheel there.
Tirren giving up power voluntarily? NO WAYZ

I'm as shocked as you are :kink:

Aaaw! :( a régime is over.. HEIL Tirren!

We need a new leader :magic: Who wants be the new Tyron?

I believe that spot has already been taken :smoke:

HEIL Silas :heehee:
