Would it be too much to hope that the UK charts of 2011 are dominated by British acts.

 

I want to the UK charts of 2011 to be dominated by brilliant tracks. I don't want another year of non #1s getting to no. 1 on artist name alone then those songs rocketing down the chart leaving the #2 and #3 hits of the year to become the bigger selling singles.

 

If 2010 was anything to go off, then I have a bad feeling 2011 will be much of the same. I just hope we don't end 2011 with something ridiculous like 46 different #1 hits otherwise there will definitely be a lot of crap topping the charts next year. We need 2007/2008 style quality control - less #1 hits but those that get there are worthy of such status.

love the way you lie on the verge of the top 20 again, S&M is moving up pretty fast for saying there is nothing to promote it bar it being it being picked as the 3rd single.

S&M how is it doing so well already, her lead single is still top 10 after months and selling 600,000+, her 2nd single being #1 on iTunes and sales of nearly 400,000 already, and now 3rd single climbing fast and her album is still #2 selling bucket loads! What an era for rihanna. :wub: (not to mention she's on the massive Who's That Chick and makes up 50% of the biggest song of the year in the world.)

Ke$ha could get the first number 1 of 2011 I guess, but it could do what Billionaire did when it was released on a compilation and go up to 11 and then get deleted and plummet

Pleased to see Melanie Fiona and Tinchy Stryder climbing with Let it Rain really hope it can go Top 20.Nice to see the urban acts doing songs with really good soul singers rather than the likes of Alesha, Jodie and Kimberley.Labrinth needs to release a solo single, I hope Syco know what they are doing with him.Grenade needs to be released next week just to stop Kesha getting to No 1.

Why is "Just Tonight" only just moving?

Is the Ke$ha song on like a legit compilation album, or is it one of those fake ones, like the one Billionaire was from? If it's a real compilation album, then the most I can see them doing is making Ke$ha's song album only. I don't think they'd delete it. That'd be like deleting Clubland 18 from iTunes just because it had a few unreleased tracks on it.

 

Also, yeah, the gap between the US release date and the UK release date was absolutely insane tbh.

 

And gosh, S&M up to #48 now! Is Rihanna really that popular now that she just has to announce what her 3rd single is an everybody will buy it without her having to promote it or anything? :lol: It's not even getting any significant radio airplay, I don't think they've even started shooting the video, I don't think she's performed it anywhere. People are just...buying it! :D

Old songs from the past year always creep up at the end of the year as music channels always play biggest songs of '2010' for example ALL THE TIME, like the charts are always, Biggest Boys/Girls of '10, Biggest American Stars etc etc so they must climb on TV Airplay Chart.
