Posted December 22, 201014 yr Hello team members, We (the lounge mods, Slick and Rooney) have been trying to decide for a little while now how to keep the teams alive and fresh. Sadly it seems like this is an uphill struggle and at the moment we're better off concentrating our efforts into keeping the main lounge alive and well. The first round of teams began well but deadened after a while, and this new season didn't exactly bring the intended increase in activity. It seems like a lot of team members either aren't invested in giving the teams their time, or don't have the time to give - we're not judging of course, as us mods have limited time too, but the fact is that discussion is all but dead, only two teams participated in the last task and even now it's the holidays nobody is really around to keep them going. We're sorry if you were one of the team members who was invested and giving your efforts to the cause, and we ask that people refrain from bitching or moaning about this decision, because it wasn't taken lightly. There is still the chance for the teams to be trialled again in future, depending on circumstances, who the mods of the moment are and whether there is interest/demand - for now though, they're over. Team forums will be archived and made available to read. On a related note the Family Fortunes games will be continuing, and will be played within the lounge. Anybody wishing to organise a round or contribute questions should PM any of the lounge mods (Tyron, Jark, Aaron, Shoat) and we will make sure this happens.
December 22, 201014 yr well i guess if the majority don't have the time, not worth wasting time. good move bringing Family Fortunes to the Lounge, I might be interested in doing it one week. Hows it gonna work, one leaderboard of everyone solo rather than being in teams?
December 22, 201014 yr I guess its a fair enough reason, although its a shame as it was a good way to get to know people better :(
December 22, 201014 yr Fair enough. It was decent to begin with, but the flopness was inevitable. Great to see Family Fortunes continuing though.
December 22, 201014 yr Author The task wasn't shit (have some fucking manners) and nobody was giving any ideas for tasks so I don't think you're in much of a position to complain.
December 22, 201014 yr Well I'm complaining and the customer is always right. If you're not going to offer any suggestions as to what we could've done with our time which we dedicate to you for nothing, kindly bore the fuck off.
December 22, 201014 yr It's a good question as to why it didn't start, but it's futile to think it would've boosted activity in teams enough elsewhere (given it was basically all the teams existed for for about a month or two in the first round!) as to be worth doing just for that rather than on an individual basis as we're doing now.
December 22, 201014 yr I can see why you're abandoning it... I think part of the problem was the way you put people randomly into teams. I know why you did it but I think it would possibly have been more successful to let people choose their own groups, you're more likely to get common discussion then. The other thing is, while I don't think the first task was $h!t, it was rather time consuming and a lot of people just don't necessarily want to spend their free time doing long written tasks, I know I only got to the planning stage and would realistically never have had the spare hours to write it fully - it may be more successful if the tasks were a bit more instant, the FF thing is successful because it only takes 5 minutes to do and it's easy for everyone to join in with. Anyways, I don't wish to sound like I'm moaning about it so instead I'll just say thanks for running the first one as I enjoyed it. Oh and glad FF will continue in the Lounge too.
December 22, 201014 yr I think the decision makes sense .... but glad that the Family Fortunes will take place in the main lounge ... it is always brilliant to read the posts even if you're not taking part yourself. Thanks to all who put their effort into arranging the 'Teams' thing ... but it is a very difficult thing to manage and keep going. Kath
December 22, 201014 yr Ouch... Lounge was often a bit boring for me, this teams thing was the main reason why I visited this part of forum. But basically this idea is now dead, but I'm glad that I was participating for two seasons. Thanks to the coordinators of this project, and to people from my teams. It was really fun at times! I'd love to see some one-off team events, team games in the future - I don't know what they could be, it's just a suggestion. I'm for games :cheer: FF was a win, we could try and revamp Mafia, or try something new. Edited December 22, 201014 yr by Arrs
December 22, 201014 yr Blue Steel was active for all of one day, so I understand the decision. Woohoo at Family Fortunes remaining though :D I'd like to host a round one day.
December 22, 201014 yr This seems fair enough tbh and wasn't totally unexpected. Glad Family Fortunes is staying though! :D
December 22, 201014 yr I understand the decision, there was not much discussion in our team recently it seems like the idea is dead and no-one is intrested anymore. But the good news is Family Fortunes is back!! I don't think I could host a game but I might be contributing questions, after Christmas and New Years obviously. The only bad thing is my random poll that I hosted in GS is now over, but it wasn't very good anyway lol.
December 22, 201014 yr I think part of the problem was the way you put people randomly into teams. I know why you did it but I think it would possibly have been more successful to let people choose their own groups, you're more likely to get common discussion then. I do see that you have a point with this, but the problem would be that we'd have just ended up with five super-cliques of posters just hanging out with their friends - which was never the intention of the teams, and there'd have been even less incentive for anyone to venture out and continue using the actual Lounge to mix with others. It would be like having the Darius forum x5.
