Got this today, it's quite amazing. Early favourite is Wilhelm's Secret, though needs a few more listens to properly sink in. I think he'll do quite well in Sound of 2011, though probably not win it as he's not *quite* as commercial as the previous winners. Would love this to be commercially successful, but I just can't see it somehow. Still, hope he keeps up the regular EPs after this!

More like deadly boring. Maybe it'll grow on me later but i doubt that. Don't get the hype that is around him at all!
Oh, has it leaked? :-o Will give it a listen sometime in the week :-)
Loving this. 'Lindesfarne I' is my favourite atm.

I like the single a lot - even if he sounds like someone doing a Bryan Ferry / David Sylvian impression.
Deadly dull

That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation, but there is some truth there. It's not that it's dull, but at times it's very sparse. I find the EPs far more accessible, actually.

purposefully / beautifully simple. if you can't understand why 'i never learnt to share' isn't genius then...i fear 4 yer ears. the end of that song, dear god.
I really like this album, personally don't think it's dull at all. As ヽ(´ー`)ノ said, it's purpousefully/beautifully simple!

Dear God, you couldn't have chosen a more apt example of what I said. This is simple in more than one sense of the word. Annoying to the nth degree would also be a good description.

This tells me more about the state of your ears than anything you could ever say.

If you really want beautifully spare/ simple music then listen to Talk Talk's The Spirit of Eden.

The Spirit of Eden. <3 I don't think you quite get the aesthetic this album is going for though. Very deconstructive / experimenting with recent trends (specifically in dubstep) / heavily R&B influenced (which is one of my favorite genres of music). So good. Easily the best thing released this year, thus far.

I definitely don't get it. To me it sounds like Anthony Heggarty (whose voice I really can't stand) over a background of synth washes and skittery drums (dubstep I know) with an incredibly anal lyric repeated over and over to little effect. I know I should probably listen to the whole album but I really can't bring myself to do it.

Now I've had my little whinge (Thank you!) I'll leave you all to enjoy this.

I agree, im not convinced by this album yet, just a bit too wishy washy
